Stompeez Review

There is something comforting about wearing slippers.  It is different than socks because slippers hug your feet. Noah was constantly wearing my slippers around the house. Of course my feet are much bigger than his so that was a little bit of a safety issue as he could fall wearing them. Thankfully he never did. I started looking for slippers for him. It wasn’t an easy task; most slippers have cartoon characters on them.  It is also harder to find slippers for boys than girls.  He had some slippers I bought him when he was like two years old but they obviously wouldn’t fit and they didn’t make them in his size. So, he didn’t have any slippers.  We saw the commercial for Stompeez on TV many times. We both thought that they were really cool.  So, when I had the opportunity to try them out, of course I said yes.

Stompeez are animal slippers and depending on which ones you have a part of them moves along with your child as they walk. At first I wasn’t sure if Noah would like them because for some reason I thought they made noise. I was mistaken. He received the Alligator Stompeez because I thought he would like them as he likes alligators and any animal that lives in water.  Stompeez are the coolest slippers on the block. Noah is having a pajama day at school soon, unfortunately he can’t wear slippers. I totally understand why though. We are so excited for Noah to have his own slippers, mostly because I won’t have to ask him for mine anymore.

College Regrets

When I was in school, I decided that I didn’t want to go to college. I wasn’t really in to school, I liked to learn but I did not like doing homework. I wish that I would have gone to college now. I plan to go to college when Noah is a little bit older. I would love to be a paralegal because I love to research people and things. I also really like learning about law. Ideally if there wasn’t 7 years of school, I would love to be a lawyer, but there is no way I would be able to handle that much time with raising my son. I remember a lot of my friends went to college and they had to take the SAT test. One of my old friends had a SAT tutor to help her prepare for the test. I would have needed some kind of tutoring because tests were not always my strong suit in certain subjects. I wonder if you are an adult, do you still have to do tests like high school students do. If I go to a college where I have to take the SAT test, I will definitely need a tutor.

I have not been in school for a long time now. I loved subjects like biology and history. I am horrible at math though. A calculator is my best friend. I hated algebra. I am still not sure what the point of it was. I can’t remember a time in my life where I did an algebraic equation, not being homework or in school. Maybe I will someday. I kind of regret not going to college but I know that I can still go at any age. There is not an age limit for college. I honestly think it was probably a good thing I am waiting. I have heard many stories of kids going to college and partying away the nights and not really getting the education they were supposed to get because they were too hung over to learn.

Did you go to college? What did you study?

Family days out in the UK

Photo attribution: FreeDigitalPhotos.net

Most of us have a dream to make it across the pond to the UK at least once in our lifetimes whether it’s to trace our ancestry or explore some of the historical towns and cities.  Traveling such a long way with children can be quite daunting, especially if you’re not sure what to do when you arrive.  Follow our guide to the best family days out in the UK.

Anglesey Sea Zoo
This is an aquarium like no other.  With more than 150 species native to UK waters, children and adults alike will enjoy just how close you can get to underwater creatures while remaining completely dry.  A day out here is as informative as it is entertaining with daily talks and feedings with the resident biologists included in the ticket price.  If you’re staying at a Sykes Cottages’ holiday home on Anglesey make the most of your entrance ticket which lasts for seven days.

Alnwick Castle
Not only is Alnwick Castle a wonderful day out for history buffs, this 11th century Northumberland castle doubles as Hogwarts School of Wizardry and Witchcraft in the Harry Potter films.  Watch your children’s faces light up as they follow in the footsteps of Harry, Ron and Hermione while you get stuck into the 1000 years of history on offer in Alnwick.  Children can also dress up as a knight or princess to try out medieval crafts or come face-to-face with a scary dragon.

Longleat Safari Park
Drive through the first safari park to be built outside of Africa and get really close to lions, monkeys and giraffes from the comfort of your car.  This is a great way to get the kids interested in wildlife while keeping everyone safe.  The monkeys live up to their cheeky reputation and have a particular fondness for car windscreen wipers!  There’s also an adventure playground with plenty of activities to keep children of all ages entertained.

Enchanted Forest
Only an hour from London, The Enchanted Forest in Tunbridge Wells is the perfect day out for an active family.  Enjoy the raised walkway through the forest with rope walks, balance beams and a puzzling spiral pathway.  If Mom and Dad aren’t tempted by the giant swings then perhaps they’ll enjoy the more formal gardens at neighbouring Groomsbridge Place.
