Traveling out West

Noah and I love to travel and go on road trips together. For locations that are too far to drive like out west, we like to fly and rent a car. We don’t always go on really long road trips in the rental car, it’s usually a day trip to the beach or somewhere fun to check out. I would love for him to see all 50 states by the time he is 21. I think that would be an amazing experience to share together. He has already been to quite a few of them.  I would like to take another trip out west. I would like to make it longer and check out other states other than Nevada and California. We would of course visit my aunt and uncle in California for at least 4 or 5 days. We have discussed going for longer so we can take some side trips like we did in San Francisco and to see the Pacific Ocean. I really like Montana although I have never been there. My aunt and uncle travel across the country at least once a year to come visit. I would love to go back with them sometime and experience that amazing journey.  I would also love to go to Utah and see what it has to offer. I had a friend on AOL many years ago that lived in Utah. Anywhere you go there is always something to see. You may have to look harder than other places. Not every state has amusement parks or beaches. It’s fun to seek out different places to travel to. I was reading an article about Roadside attractions in Utah, it sounds like an interesting place to visit. Hopefully someday we will go to Utah and the other states we have yet to explore.

GPS and Heated Seats Please

When you buy a new car, you have to decide on what accessories you want in your car. Everyone has their own personal preferences what they want. I would love a GPS in my car, my mom however doesn’t want one. I find it funny when she asks me to look up directions to places when I am sitting in the passenger seat. I always use the map app on my phone and when it starts talking she always comments about it. I always talk back to the app. I am silly like that. One time it was giving us difficult directions and I told it to be quiet and that we couldn’t find it. My mom told me that she can hear me. We could get really lost, if I made the voice mad. She was of course joking. I think that my mom is kind of leery about it giving directions because there’s always a rare chance it could be wrong. My mom is definitely a maps girl. She still pulls out the maps when we are going places. Of course they are pretty old ones. We haven’t gotten lost yet. If we did we could always rely on a GPS to save the day.

I would like my car to have heated seats. It would be really nice to have in the winter. Of course my mom doesn’t need heated seats because she lives in Florida. She would only use them when she is up here visiting us. Even then I don’t think she would want them. I think we both would want satellite radio. I prefer lots of music selections and my mom is all about talk radio. I grew up listening to Rush Limbaugh, Dick Crumb and Dr. Laura on road trips. It was always interesting. Noah loves the Rush Revere books and so he calls him Rush Limbog. It’s really a great series and it gets kids interested in history.

Winter Memories and Snow Days

Winter will be here soon. It seems to come faster each year. I remember when I was younger how time seemed to drag on. Now it just goes so fast. I am not sure if it’s because I am a mom and watching Noah grow up is making it fly by. I do treasure every moment which is important. Last winter was a pretty rough one. It wasn’t because we got a lot of snow, it was just really cold. We had a conversation about snow days today as I was hanging Noah’s school calendar on the fridge. It helps me remember when he has days off or half days. It’s really helpful just as a calendar too. Noah mentioned that he wants a lot of snow days this school year. I had to remind him that every day he misses they have to make up by law.  He also commented about the extra days that would be make up days after school is supposed to get out. I hope that this year it’s not as cold as last winter. We didn’t really get to play outside much because of the horrific wind chill.  \

There are so many fun things to do out in the snow. I remember having so much fun in the snow as a child. It’s of course different now that I am a grown up. I kind of dread it. My skin has thinned out, I get old really easily but I want Noah to have those memories too.  I want to make snow angels with him. I should probably invest in adult snow pants. Do they even make them for adults? Last year I would just put on a bunch of pajama pants and jeans over them. I want to make snow slushies and I just read an article about Frozen Bubble Fun that I know my little scientist would love. I think that they are gorgeous. I can’t wait to see Noah’s face when we do this fun activity together. I am sure we will take lots of pictures. Thankfully we have a waterproof digital camera so we won’t have to worry about the snow.
