Amwell helps you get well soon with Online Doctor Visits

This summer has been very busy for us. We have been many different places, which means Noah has been exposed to lots of germs. Thankfully, he was only sick once this summer. It always makes me a little nervous when we travel about Noah getting sick. It wasn’t really a thought until last Thanksgiving Noah had a horrible ear infection when we were in Florida. It was the day after Thanksgiving and we were visiting my mom, Noah ended up getting really sick. It was really hard to know what places were actually open because some places are closed the day after Thanksgiving for family time. Just make sure you have your location selected. It’s really easy to change. It’s important because some doctors are only allowed to practice in certain states.

I also don’t like to expose him to other people’s germs or expose others to his. Thankfully we knew about Amwell. Amwell is short for American Well. It is the coolest service in my opinion. You can see a doctor at home through your computer, tablet or phone. It is a Godsend if you are on vacation, you don’t have to worry about finding a place to see you or your child. You are able to just talk to the doctor with your microphone and camera.  Let’s face it… you are already online using Dr. Google anyways. Why not just get real answers and not leave it to unqualified people to answer your health concerns.

My aunt and uncle live up in the mountains, there closest town is thirty miles away. It is beautiful but I don’t even know if that town has a clinic where he could go and be seen. Reno is an hour away. That is a long way to go with a sick child or if you are sick yourself. Amwell would be great in that kind of situation. I do know they have pharmacies so, you see the doctor and then pick up your prescription and you are on the road to recovery. It would also be great if you were pregnant and had a sick child. This way it would lessen your exposure of germs. I wasn’t ever sick when I was pregnant but I can’t imagine that it would be fun. Germs and viruses can’t tell time so, they can hit you anytime. Amwell knows this so that’s why you can use their service 24/7. It’s also great if you are a new mom and have a concern at 3 am. If you ever spent an hour in the waiting room waiting to be seen you will also appreciate Amwell.

Amwell is much cheaper than an emergency room visit, of course if it’s a real emergency, please go to the emergency room. If you don’t have insurance, no problem. I think they had people without insurance in mind, because it’s only $49 a visit. I can tell you that in the past I paid $100 for Noah just to be seen at an urgent care place. Amwell does accept many different health insurance too. They also call in your prescription for you so you don’t have to wait for it in store to be filled where you buy all those extra items that you don’t need. The last thing you want to do is have to wait when you are sick. You want to be in your bed or on the couch. If for some reason the pharmacy you put down doesn’t have the medication, you can easily transfer it to a pharmacy that does. I had that problem when Noah had the ear infection and was prescribed Augmentin. The doctors at Amwell are really nice and informative too. They really care about their patients and their health.

Noah absolutely loves Amwell too. Anytime he’s not feeling well, he will ask me to see the online doctor. He would rather me hop on to Amwell’s website than get in the car and have to wait to be seen. I think it’s because he doesn’t want to chance having to get a strep test. He will tell the doctor and nurse and anyone who will listen that he doesn’t need one at the doctor’s office. I totally understand where he is coming from. I love that you can use Amwell for earaches, headaches, sore throats, backaches, and other common illnesses.

Here’s a list of the most common uses:
