Great Road Trip Movies



Road trips can be fun, scary or just plain weird. It is often a theme in movies.  It is something we can all relate to because we all have traveled in the car at some point. Families or friends are traveling in the car, the RV or even on a bus. Some of the movies are classics and some are just plain crazy. We all have our own travel stories where we learn something or experience something strange. You may even be thankful that your trips are uneventful.  The one thing that movies and our experiences while traveling in the car is we all get closer through our travels. 
 Here are some great travel movies.

National Lampoon’s Vacation is an amazingly funny movie. Clark Griswold and his charming family are trying to get to a theme park and things keep going wrong. With Grandma in tow they may never make it.

Planes, Trains and Automobiles stars John Candy and Steve Martin on a quest to make it to New York City to get home for Thanksgiving dinner with family. After a failed attempt of flying, they try a train and ultimately resort to an automobile. Will they make it to Thanksgiving dinner or will they fall short? 

Road Trip is about a group of college students who are trying to find out if one of their girlfriends is cheating. They decide to take a road trip and is get to the bottom of it after she doesn’t return his phone calls while they are miles apart.

Little Miss Sunshine is about a dysfunctional family on a journey to enter a beauty pageant. They encounter all kinds of setbacks including car trouble where they have to push the car and jump in twenty miles an hour.  It’s a race against the clock to get to the pageant so Olive can compete.

Thelma and Louise is a great road trip movie. It’s about two women who out run the law after a series of crimes they committed. You will find that Thelma and Louise has everything. It’s funny and it’s a huge adventure. Will they be able to keep going?

Kalifornia is about two couples that travel the U.S. and visit different murder sites. One of the couples are writing a book and the other couple is just there to help with expenses. The trip doesn’t go the way the planned.

Adventures in Babysitting is about a trip in the city to save the babysitter’s friend who ran away from home. They encounter all kinds of challenges while trying to save her, they have to save themselves.

Joyride is the story of three young adults trying to go home from college. They get a CB radio and decide to play a trick on a lonely trucker. The trucker doesn’t think it’s funny and is out for revenge.

We’re the Millers is hilarious. A drug dealer needs to smuggle drugs from Mexico and he needs a family so he doesn’t look suspicious when he crosses the border. He enlists a group of outcasts to be his new family to drive in an RV to pick up the drugs.

So the next time you are on a road trip, thank your lucky stars that you don’t have to encounter any of the challenges from these awesome road trip movies.
