When you are driving and you have time, it is always fun to take the scenic route. When you are on a road trip miles and miles of highway and trucks can get really boring, really fast. We tend to stick to the scenic route. It seems a lot more relaxed. You can see the off-beaten path. You are able to explore new areas. You don’t typically have to deal with lots of traffic or accidents.
We have discovered some really neat little towns by not taking the highway. We always take the scenic route when going to Cincinnati. We have done the same route several times. I think I could do it without my GPS telling me where to turn. It’s a lot easier now with built in GPS on our phones. You probably won’t get lost like you would with just a map.
If you do decide to take the scenic route, remember to be prepared. You can go miles and miles without a gas station or a place to eat. Plan accordingly. As someone who plans meals out while making travel plans, I usually don’t have this problem. When we were leaving New Mexico, we ended up in a place where it took forever to find food. Packing snacks is great for that. You also have to make sure you have a gas station to stop and fill up your car. The last thing you want to do is run out of gas. It’s really easy to plan a scenic trip if you just want to go for a drive and experience nature. You can find so many different options online.
