Kid's Road Trip Apps

You decided to go on a road trip with the kids and you are wondering how to keep them entertained in the car. You are bringing snacks, books, coloring books, music, toys and a list of car games to play. You are also packing their tablets or phones. If they don’t have either, I am sure there will be a time where you hand off yours. Your kids might be bored with the kids apps they have. It’s always fun to get new apps to play while on a road trip. It will help keep your children occupied in the car while hopefully learning something new. Minecraft is awesome, but sometimes you need a break from all the Minecraft talk. Downloading the right apps can help your kids learn while they are having fun. It’s also a good idea to have a couple apps that they can only play while traveling to make them more special. Don’t forget to pack a pair of headphones each child too.

Mad Libs is a fun fill in the blank party game. Parents probably remember doing Mad Libs when they were kids. There is now a Mad Libs App that brings all the crazy and funny stories to life. You won’t have to worry about losing the pad or your pencil under the car seat or worse accidentally kick them out. You can type in the information or use photos from your phone to make some of the most hilarious stories you ever heard.

If your kids are adventurers, you can download the Visited States App to track what states you have gone through. You can even share it with your family and friends. It’s a great way to get familiar with the different states and where they are located.

Disney XD app is awesome because you can watch different shows on the road. You can also even live stream Disney XD so your child doesn’t miss the latest episode of his favorite show.

YouTube and Netflix are great for movies and videos. You can find almost anything on YouTube. Gaming videos where people talk about playing computer games and apps is really big right now. I am not sure why they are so appealing but they are. Most of them are kid appropriate too. Remember to have Parental Controls on just in case.

The Robot Factory will entertain your child through design, free play and creating. They can design their robot however they want and even test it out. It’s a great way to think out of the box and not worry about if it’s right and they can make silly robots too.

Where’s my Water has been out for a really long time, but it’s also a lot of fun. It helps promote problem solving skills and hand and eye coordination. It can be tough sometimes to get Wally the water he needs safely.

For little kids check out these apps:

The Very Hungry Caterpillar & Friends First Words is full of Eric Carle graphics and teaches words. It has different languages so your bigger kids can also learn a new language, like Spanish, Chinese, French or German. It’s really easy for preschoolers to use on their own or you can do it together.

Do you remember the show Reading Rainbow? There’s now a Reading Rainbow App. Your child can choose from many different books and either read them or have books read to them out loud for the whole family to enjoy.

Gus on the Go is an adorable app that helps your child learn another language through stories and vocabulary. There’s also fun games to play, and from 28 languages to choose from your child will never be bored.  It is really easy for little kids to pick up new languages. Gus on the Go just launched a new app called Stories that is fully in Spanish.  Your child can learn Spanish using familiar stories like Goldielocks and the Three Bears or The Three Little Pigs.
