Every year we all make new resolutions. It can be anything from losing weight or being more organized. It’s all about a new you. While you are purging your home of your old stuff and getting rid of things you don’t use, why not look at your bigger items. Look at your car, you might have said I can’t afford it, after you have been broken down on the side of the road for the third time. All of those trips to the mechanic start to add up. Sure, it’s just a couple hundred dollars every so often. Most repairs are just a temporary fix. They may last for a while, but then you have to wonder what will break next. Some repairs can cost more than the car is even worth. Why keep dumping your hard earned money in to an unreliable car? You aren’t saving money in the long run. So, your resolution of saving more money won’t work out.
Maybe your resolution is to not be so stressed out all the time. Having a car that you cannot count on is very stressful. Especially if you have children and you have to drive to practices and playdates. It can cause worry and you are less likely to do things you want to because you are afraid you will be stranded on the side of the road. You will find yourself telling people no when they ask you to go somewhere a couple hours away. Who wants to deal with the stress of dealing with tow trucks? Tow truck drivers can charge you a lot of money in a matter of a week’s time. The weather is also not safe to be in without heat in your car. You could get frostbite or hypothermia if you are in the cold car too long. You could have your car stop in an unsafe area. You need to have a dependable car to get to work and to the store. Buying a car this winter will help you relieve your stress levels. You can definitely get a payment plan so it’s not going to take a chunk of your bank account. So while you are making your New Year changes, consider getting rid of your old car and in to one that will help you achieve your goals.
