Valet parking tips

Using valet parking is really nice when you are going somewhere and you want to feel extra special. Sometimes, it can be difficult to find a parking spot for your car. Other times, you don’t have a choice and they only offer valet parking. That usually happens when you stay at a hotel that doesn’t have the space to have a normal parking lot. We went to a hotel on the beach over fall break and they didn’t offer self parking. Using valet parking can be nerve wracking in my opinion. When you have a nice car, giving the keys to someone else can be a bit scary. It really doesn’t need to be. Remember that it’s not going to be like the movies. Your car probably won’t be taken for a joyride.

There are some important tips that you should know when you have to use a valet.

Some hotels will charge you to self park so usually the mandatory valet service doesn’t cost much more, it may even be included in the resort fee.

Know that the people who are driving your car have probably had background checks and drug tests.

Take photos of your car before you hand over your keys to prove that there’s no damage just in case you need it later.

Make sure when taking photos to do it where you are so no one can dispute the day and place where the photos were taken.

As always make sure your insurance is up to date and paid for. You don’t want to have something happen and have lapsed insurance.

Keep your claim ticket in a safe place so you can get your car when you are ready to leave.

Don’t leave valuables in your car. This is something you should never do.

If you are staying in a hotel take everything you need with you. You won’t be able to just run out to your car.

Allow extra time before you leave for them to bring your car to you. There might be a delay if you leave right at check out time.

If you feel like you received friendly service feel free to give a little tip when you get your car back.

If you are staying in a hotel, go to local restaurants and shops. You might find a great restaurant within walking distance.

Using a valet can be a great service when you don’t have to take time to find a parking place in a crowded area.
