Can I Have Some Apple Dippers?

Last weekend, I went to Super Walmart. I was there for what seemed like 3 eternities, scouring the Valentine’s clearance, finding every Wilton product on clearance in the store, which I was able to score some good deals.  After my what felt like 6 years in Walmart, I was famished. There is a McDonald’s in that particular Walmart so I decided to get a snack. Now, before all the Mickey D haters come out of the wood work, I eat it in moderation.  I got a cheeseburger and a small fry. I had sworn McDonald’s off for a month after coming home from my best friend Brandy’s house in New Hampshire; this was well after that time period was up, so I figured it’s OK.  I had to get Noah something too; I mean that would be mean not to, right? So, I order him some Apple Dippers.  The manager informs me that they discontinued the caramel cup.  At first I was like no big deal, because my son doesn’t eat that part.  It dawned on me, while watching my fries cook that I ate that part.  I wanted to cry, that was the best part. I ate it with a spoon. That was my special treat, and now it is gone.

The more I think about it, I wonder why. Sure it’s got sugar in it, really all it is sugar, but what is like 2 teaspoons of caramel going to do? You get three dips out of it and it’s gone. Let’s do some McMath shall we? There are approximately ten apples in a package and you get three dips. So ten minus three equals seven, that is seven apples without caramel.  I wonder what pack of angry parents threw a fit about a little caramel; it isn’t like the ratio of caramel to apples was outrageous. I wished the cups were bigger, but never complained that it was bad. It really makes me flabbergasted that it was that big of a deal.  Last I checked, and I have had plenty of Apple Dippers in my life, that it is in a separate cup, not poured over like molten lava. I need to buy some caramel and apples now.  Parents could have said please no caramel or not let their child have it. Maybe a better solution would be asked would you like the caramel cup? So, it’s not wasteful when they order their happy meals.  Let’s face it; it’s still healthier than fries.  I mean remember it is two teaspoons full.   I highly doubt that could do any harm. Maybe if you filled a bathtub full of it, but its moderation folks.

So, once again, an angry parent mob, more than likely has ruined something I love, because they are on a warpath.  Rest in Peace Apple Dippers. You are just now sliced apples in a bag.

We Went to The Walmart Great Ice Cream Social

We had the opportunity to take a part in The Walmart Great Ice Cream Social yesterday. We were really excited to be able to sample the Lil Drums Drumsticks from Nestlé. They had two kinds of treats, Cookie Dough and Chocolate Brownie. I am a huge cookie dough fan so I went with Cookie Dough, I brought my mom with us and she tried the Chocolate Brownie. Noah had trouble deciding which one he wanted. So I told him to pick yellow or purple, however he would have preferred both, but we didn’t want to be little piggies. The man giving out the samples was really nice too. After a few minutes of deciding, he chose cookie dough or yellow as he called it. I had to wait a couple minutes to eat mine, I had to take some pictures of Noah enjoying his treat. It was pure torture. As soon as I tasted the cookie dough Lil’ Drum, I was so happy. It has chunks of cookie dough on the top and I walked around Walmart saying yum and oh yum. I know what I am buying when we go to Walmart again.

I saw so many people walking around with Lil’ Drums and everyone had smiles on their faces. I could tell that everyone really enjoyed it. It was fun. I think they should have them every time I go to Walmart. It was so incredibly hot yesterday. I felt like I was in a sauna every time I went outside. It was so nice to have a delicious ice cream treat to enjoy while we shopped. We didn’t buy much yesterday, just a couple things. We didn’t end up purchasing any ice cream this time because we going to be very busy the next week. I love looking at all the different types of ice cream and ice cream treats. Every time I see a carton of ice cream I think of the trip my cousins and I took to the Edy’s Factory, my cousin’s ex-wife worked there as an ice cream taster, she had a more professional title but I forgot what exactly it was. It was really cool to see how they test the products and to make sure everything is distributed properly they cut the carton long ways to take a look inside. I felt really cool because I was able to try some ice cream just off the line. If I were to create an ice cream flavor it would probably be some kind of peppermint since peppermint is my current favorite flavor. There used to be Starburst Ice Cream and it was the best ice cream. I wish they would bring it back. I miss it. It was an orange and cherry sherbet with soft chunks of starburst. It was the absolute best.

The highlight of our shopping trip to Walmart was definitely The Walmart Great Ice Cream Social. Sometimes as a mom, shopping can be stressful, especially when you have someone asking for everything he sees. This was really a great trip and I am so glad I was able to participate. Let me know if you were able to attend and what your opinions of the Lil Drums and The Walmart Ice Cream Social are. If you missed it, I am hoping they do it again next year!

The Walmart Great Ice Cream Social

One of my grandma Rose’s favorite sayings was When the weather’s hot and you sweat a lot and you can’t get ice cream cones it taint no sin to take off your skin and dance around in your bones. Well, it sure is hot, but don’t take your skin off yet because I have some exciting news to share with you. This Saturday July, 2, 2011 is The Walmart Great Ice Cream Social at Super Walmarts all over the country. The Walmart Great Ice Cream Social is a fun event that Walmart holds every year.

We happened to be at Super Walmart last year when they were doing The Walmart Great Ice Cream Social last year and it was a lot of fun. It is sponsored by Nestlé, Edy’s and Dreyers ice cream brands. This year’s star is the Nestlé Lil Drums, which are small snack sized Drumsticks, which are the perfect size for Noah. I am really excited to take part in it this year. I hope you can make it out to The Walmart Great Ice Cream Social at Walmart and tell me how much fun you have. I will be doing a post about it, so make sure you check back, and I can’t wait to sample some ice cream. It’s the perfect summer treat.

Check out if The Walmart Great Ice Cream Social will be at your local Super Walmart HERE.

Winter Survival Basket Made With Cold Stone Cocoa!!

Cold Stone Creamery now makes delicious and creamy cocoa. As a fan of their ice cream I had to buy it! With the holidays coming and the cold weather that is now here, hot cocoa is a staple in my house. I headed to Wal-mart to shop for things to put in a winter survival kit. My family always does a lot of baking during the holidays and I thought that would be something to base my basket around. Unfortunately, it gets very cold here in the winter and we spend a lot of time indoors. I decided to make a winter survival gift basket for my family to use. You can make gift baskets for gifts but who says you can’t make one for your family to enjoy too?

I went to a very crowded Wal-mart to shop for the items I wanted to put in it. I love shopping at Wal-mart and Noah love to get the stickers from the greeter. He gets so excited, on this particular trip the greeter asked him how many he wanted. Noah said ten and they gave him ten. I got 2 boxes of Cold Stone Creamery Milk Chocolate with marshmallows cocoa for us to enjoy this winter. I don’t know about you but extra mini marshmallows are a must. If for some reason I only have big ones, I cut them in fourths. I still make cocoa the way my grandma used to make it. It is the only way to make it. I know some people use just water or just milk but I use a very scientific formula for my cocoa. It is one of those secret family recipes.

I also picked up some easy things to make as treats, some mugs, a game and some other goodies to help this family brave the cold and snowy winter. I had a lot of fun shopping for this basket, I hope you have just as much fun seeing my Whrrl Post and I hope it inspires you to make one of your own. Look for Cold Stone Cocoa at your local Walmart! I went to Wal-mart

Tonight, I went to Wal-mart. I thought it would be like any other of my many Wal-mart trips I had been on before. I was wrong. Nothing terrible happened but, it could have been really scary. I was shopping with Noah and we were getting ready to head to the check out. I observed a little girl who was no more than 5 if that, running around the store yelling Mommy? Mommy? I started to carefully watch her and see what she was doing. After a few minutes of waiting to see if she was claimed by a grownup I started following her. I was so scared that something would happen to her. I noticed no one was stopping her and asking any questions. After pretty much chasing her with my shopping cart and Noah in the cart. I asked her where is your mommy honey? She responded Chicago. I asked her where is the grown up that was with her? I didn’t understand what she said so I told her to show me.

Well after about 10 or so minutes she found the grown up she was with, who by the way was shopping like it was no big deal that she had no idea where the child was. She wasn’t even looking for her. I kept thinking what if I didn’t follow her? What if I didn’t ask her? Someone could of taken that little girl and been long gone by the time “grandma” would of known the child was gone. I couldn’t find any employees around either. I was half tempted to call 911. It all thankfully worked out, and she found her grandma and hopefully she will keep an eye on her during the rest of their shopping trip and every other trip they take.

Keep an eye on your kids; especially your young kids at the store. If you see a young child without an adult or looking for their parent, please stop whatever you are doing and help the child get back to them safely. I know it might be a nuisance but it is worth it. You could even save that child’s life.
