I used to Collect Bumper Stickers

I used to collect random things like shot glasses, lighters and even bumper stickers. I didn’t stick the bumper stickers on anything though. I would use a push pin and hang them on my wall. I was worried about them fading or being ripped off. I wanted to keep my funny bumper stickers that I had found. I had everything from funny ones to band bumper stickers. My mom used to have a bumper sticker on her car that said “Caribbean Soul.” It was so cool. Everything about that car was awesome. It was nicknamed by Noah as the green car. I miss that car because that was the car Noah was a baby in. He was brought home from the hospital in that car. I know it was just a car but it was special. It was a very sad day when she turned it in. I think that bumper stickers are like tattoos for cars. They give it character and personality. It is a form of expression and can even remind you of places you have been. It is also a great way to identify your car if you have a common color and make. You may find several of the same car and color if you are in a big parking garage.

Bumper stickers can also be entertaining after being in the car for a long time. They give you something to read and think about you. I personally like funny ones that make me laugh. There are so many funny bumper stickers out there. One of my favorites is “Don’t make me release my flying monkeys.” I love the Wizard of Oz. Another favorite of mine is “It is as bad as you think and they ARE out to get you”. It reminds me of Gibb’s Rules from NCIS which is my favorite show. A lot of bumper stickers are in fact boring but I compiled a list of funny bumper stickers.

My Carpool Memories

One of my favorite experiences was my carpool in eighth grade. It was such a fun group of kids. We were really close because we went to and from school together every day. If I didn't find the carpool I would have spent a lot of time before and after school waiting for my mom. So it was really a blessing. It was also so much fun getting to know them. Some of us hung out other than being just in the car. My friend Jamie was my favorite person in my carpool. We still talk on Facebook now. She lives in another state but I hope we can get together soon. It's been such a long time. I remember when her mom would drive, we would go to Taco Bell a lot after school. Her mom had the coolest van and there was even a TV and VCR in it. This was before everyone had TV's in their cars. The other kids in my carpool were cousins. I was kinda close with the other girl, she was kind of trouble. I used to go to movies with Jamie all the time. I remember when we saw a movie at the mall downtown. I don't know if she and I would be as close as we were if it weren't for carpooling. Her birthday that year was so much fun. We were playing Girl Talk and we had to ask her neighbor for ice. I don't think we got the ice or not. I think we all took the zit sticker.

I highly recommend carpooling to work or school. Your kids can make lifelong bonds and make some great friends. It's also a blessing to help someone who maybe works earlier or later than school hours.

Teaching Noah in the Car

I love to travel so much. It's definitely a passion of mine. If I won the lottery, I would travel extensively with Noah. I am always looking for ways to teach him new things and share experiences. He's older and really smart, he doesn't like being quizzed on things. When he was younger, I could just ask him questions. He just gets annoyed at me now. He is really curious about things. I want to take him to Williamsburg again, we went when he was two months old. We didn't really do much but go to Yankee Candle.  He's learning about Paul Revere in school and that would be a fun trip or Washington DC. He seems to be very interested in history. I asked him about who Paul Revere was. He told me that it was a guy who told the people that the British are coming.  After that he was talking about different wars today. He wanted to know if any of our family was in either the Civil War or the Vietnam war. My mom explained that our family on her side wasn't in the United States yet. I also told him that  his grandpa side wasn't either. I told him how I am the first generation born in America. He is the second.

When I named him Noah, I didn't know how fitting his name would really be.  He loves aquariums and zoos. We want to go to every major aquarium in the U.S. some day. He has been to quite a few already.  He loves to learn and experience new things. I have discovered that you can make anything a learning experience.  It doesn't have to be complex, it can be as simple as just counting miles or shouting out different colors of cars. Starting young is a great idea. It helps build a foundation and a love for learning.
