Noah loves Movies about Travel

Noah loves the Cars series. The first time he saw Cars 2 was when he really started to love movies. I had tried to watch movies with him before that because I am a huge movie buff. I wanted to pass it along to Noah. He instantly loved Lightning McQueen and Mater. He couldn’t wait for it to come out on DVD. He hadn’t seen Cars before we saw Cars 2. We actually watched Cars on the Disney Cruise. They had free Disney movies you could order from your stateroom. We ended up watching Cars every night of the cruise. I also purchased the movie when we got home. I also pre-ordered Cars 2. I think that he likes Cars 2 more though. We love to have movie nights together where we watch a movie with popcorn. I would let Noah pick out the movie and for months we watched Cars 2 every week. I like the Cars movies too. I think they are really cute.

There are so many cute travel movies out there. I really like Radio Flyer too. I remember seeing it in theaters. It was a very sad movie though. I recently watched Radio Flyer again and I was like woah….I totally missed something. I thought he flew away at the end because it was fantasy but other people think there’s a couple different endings.  I am not sure which I believe though even now. I like to still believe that he flew away even now. The other theories are ones that would ruin my childhood. I also forgot how sad the movie really is. I remembered there was abuse but I think now that I am a mom it just is different.  I also used to love Follow that Bird. If Noah knew that I liked a movie about Big Bird as a big kid he would think I am so silly. We have definitely moved way out of the Sesame Street phase at my house.

Here’s a great list about Road Trip movies for Kids.

What’s your favorite kid’s road trip movie?

LOBSTERFEST is going on NOW!

Lobster is definitely one of my favorite foods. When Noah really wants something, instead of saying pretty please with a cherry on top, he says pretty please with lobster on top. Of course that is really hard to say no to because he knows me so well. One of our favorite restaurants is Red Lobster. Noah asks to go there often because he loves the Cheddar Bay Biscuits and so do I. Every year Red Lobster does LOBSTERFEST where they have different lobster dishes. It is really hard to pick just one. I wish that I could have a bottomless stomach where I could eat everything. I really have a hard time picking just one thing at Red Lobster. It is such a hard decision. We had the opportunity to visit our local Red Lobster and check out the LOBSTERFEST menu. Of course I had seen the commercials over and over again. It would instantly make me starving for lobster every time. I was really excited to get to go. So, we loaded up in the car and headed there with my mom and off we went. I was starving by the time we arrived. We ate Cheddar Bay Biscuits and Noah had three of them. He would have ate them out of them if I would have let him.

I ordered The Lobster Lover’s Dream. It had a roasted rock lobster tail and Maine lobster tail, served with lobster-and-shrimp linguini Alfredo.  It was amazing. I wasn’t too sure about the pasta before I went honestly. Any time I had Alfredo sauce, I didn’t like it. I was wrong, I loved the pasta. I filled up on the lobster-and-shrimp linguini Alfredo. I also had a salad with oil and vinegar which was great. I ended up taking home the lobster tails because I was full after the fulfilling pasta, biscuits and the salad. I really enjoyed them the next night!

Noah had mac and cheese of course and orange slices. He gobbled everything down really quickly. He didn’t have any leftovers even after the biscuits, which surprised me. My mom ordered the Dueling Lobster Tails. Let me tell you, she was happy to take part of this review. The Dueling Lobster Tails are a lobster tail stuffed with crab and seafood along with another tail topped with creamy roasted-garlic shrimp. It also came with mashed potatoes and she chose green beans for her side. She loved the Dueling Lobster Tails and she kept trying to get me to try the fabulous green beans. The really cool thing was there was a party going on in the next room. We never figured out what type of party they were having but there were lots and lots of red star balloons. There must have been fifty balloons and a room full of happy party goers. We were hoping it was a surprise party, but that wasn’t the case. Our waitress was nice too.  We left very full, even with leftovers. I couldn’t stop eating.

Check out LOBSTERFEST going on now at your local Red Lobster. Go quickly because it is only for a limited time and trust me you DON’T want to miss out! It only happens once a year so if you miss it you will have to wait a whole year to enjoy LOBSTERFEST. Of course they have lots of delicious items at Red Lobster!

Eating Healthy on the Road with a Picky Eater

My son Noah is the pickiest eater in the world. He is very specific about what he wants to eat, he has a really hard time trying new things. He is stubborn like his mama. He won’t eat meat. He won’t eat chicken nuggets. He won’t eat hot dogs, or fish sticks. When we travel it can be a total pain to feed him. He doesn’t really have any options at McDonald’s or Wendy’s. He used to just get apples and milk or sometimes ice cream and milk. I have learned that while I would be fine with McDonald’s, Noah isn’t good with it, unless I let him get ice cream. That is a great treat every so often but not for a meal. I have started packing him foods and stopping at places with healthier options. I used to be able to eat McDonald’s and other fast food a lot, now it is an occasional treat. I am getting older and I feel that it makes me feel sick and greasy if I eat too much.

We don’t have allergies but it would be harder to eat on the road if your family did. Noah is pretty good about eating the stuff I pack him like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Honestly, the only “fast food” Noah eats is Steak N Shake and Panera. I don’t consider either fast food. He will occasionally eat Subway because they have good cheese sandwiches and lettuce. That’s what he told me a week ago. I don’t really mind though, because he’s not obsessed with fast food like I was when I was a kid. I only got it once a week but I loved it so much. It was my favorite thing about Thursdays or spending time with my dad because I knew I could have fast food. Of course I love my dad but fast food was just a huge bonus. I think it’s important to start good eating habits young and when you are traveling it’s difficult to remain consistent.

Here are my tips about Eating Healthy on the Road.
