Our Kitchen Table

When we were purchasing our kitchen table, we didn’t know that Noah was going to be a part of our family. I am sure you are wondering why something like kitchen tables would matter when it comes to having a child. I really like our kitchen table because it fits our breakfast area really well but, the chairs have wheels on them. Noah loves to roll around like any child would. He occasionally bangs in to the wall going backwards from the table. He also is famous for moving the chairs all around the kitchen and sometimes in to our family room. He is at least very creative and has lined up the chairs in to a train and he wears his conductor’s hat and sunglasses and pretends to drive the train. It is very cute. I am not innocent by any means. I sometimes roll the chair around when I am sitting in it, but I don’t bump in to the walls. It’s also fun to watch Noah come up with new ideas to play and I love spinning him around.

I think if I were to buy a new table I might get one with chairs without wheels. We have laminate flooring so maybe normal chairs wouldn’t be the best idea either. I would be afraid it would scratch the floor. What kind of kitchen table and chairs do you have in your home? I look forward to your responses.

  1. This is a funny & timely post! We bought our table when our first was 6 months old. I was really drawn to the table top. It looked 'rustic asian-y' to me. Never thinking how when he would sit at the table 1- his expensive stokke high chair would have difficulty pulling up thanks to the 4 inch lip under the table top & 2- copious amounts of food would become caked into the grooves of the table top's design. DISGUSTING! This has been remedied by covering said top w/ a table cloth but then all that's visible is the very unappealing legs of the table. We're looking at new tables... ;P

  2. I guess you could call me a table freek lol, I love having them everywhere inside & out and I don't nessasrily have to have fancy new high cost ones ither.I actually like looking & buying them in flea markets, yard sales, estate sales etc. In the house in the kitchen I have a small round cafe table thats black & the 4 chairs are red with black frames which is a set we got at the fleamarket where a cafe went out of business, its perfect for my deep red walls & my apple/rooster theme. Then my living room is open connected openly with my kitcen & really big so my living room theme is Lodge look with black bears & woodsy look & being a seamstress I love sewing & making my own drapes, table cloth & settings etc. So we bought a long wooden table that has terra cotta squares on the top with wooden rounded ladder back chairs so I made from bear print fabric the complete table setting for it so it matches my fireplace mantel scarf & drapes. When I say I like tables outside, we have a front porch & a bigger back screened closed in porch and I bought a used wooden round dinning table with matching chairs & I love to freehand paint (my other passion) so I painted a country scene of patchwork pattern & garden flowers in the squares as overlay on the seats sitting part & the table top & then added lots clear coat to save it from extreme weather & moisture, made a very pretty piece & no need for decorative cushions or table cloth. My fornt porch is smaller & I have a small corner rustic greywood board table there with one chair. You ask what I had, LOL so bare with me I have one more> which is on our outside open concrete patio where there I painted the concrete with brown paint as my base color then made a big stencil pattern out foam which simulates differant sizes of stones (round river rock which we have lots of here in the Tennessee mountains) so my patio looks like your walking on stones, and I took an old wooden table and paited it with stone on the outer edge & then painted Ivy vine with cabbage roses (my other love to paint) in the tables center with lots coats clear coat to preserve it. The next thing I want to do to match it is to get an old wooden 6 chest tall chest of drawers & paint a matching scenery on it and let each drawer hang open slightly while differant sizes of clay pots sit inside them with flowers in them or iving flowing out & over. I love that look when you go to or see outdoor cafes that have those in their dining area, have you ever seen those? So, I love tables as you cann & use them where ever I can to decorate areas to use or just look pretty. Gonna have to put roller wheels now on some of mine, you gave me a great idea there :-) Have a great day
