I am a movie fanatic. I would watch movies all day every
day, if I could. One of my favorite things this time of year is all the holiday
movies. There are so many of them. There’s really something for everyone. Noah
and I like to snuggle up with popcorn and watch holiday movies together. You
can really watch them any time of year, but they are more magical when it’s the
holidays. I thought I would make a list of some of my favorite holiday movies.
Some of them you have probably seen, some of them might be something new for
you or your family to enjoy.
Home Alone is a classic. Noah hasn’t seen it yet though. He
told me he wants to be home alone and watch Home Alone. I said you don’t know
what the movie really is about do you? He said no. I explained it and it didn’t
even phase him. That’s a great movie about traveling and self-defense. Home
Alone 2 is great too. You really must watch them together. I haven’t seen the
other Home Alone movies and probably never will.
Christmas with the Kranks is a funny family movie. It’s
about a couple who want to go on a cruise for Christmas but to pay for it, they
decide not do their normal holiday traditions and their neighbors get really
upset about it.
How the Grinch Stole Christmas either version. I like them
both, for different reasons. I think that the baby Grinch and the Grinch kid is
totally adorable. The Jim Carrey version is funny but the cartoon is classic. I
think that there is room for both in your holiday movie schedule.
A Merry Mirthworm Christmas, most people will have never
heard of this movie. It was something I remember watching on HBO when I was
very young. It was something we watched all the time at Christmas. It’s a short
cartoon about a Mirthworm named Bert and he is new in town and is trying to
make friends but he is kinda clumsy and shy. I love that it teaches kids about
kindness.
Christmas Vacation is a great movie for families with older
kids. It’s full of Clark Griswold’s antics and lots of crazy family. It’s a lot
of fun.
Pinocchio’s Christmas is another movie from my childhood.
It’s such a cute movie. Pinocchio has a new friend who he hopes to turn in to a
real live girl.
It’s a Wonderful Life is such a classic. I think everyone
should watch it every year. It’s fun to
watch with my mom after Noah has gone to bed on Christmas Eve.
A Christmas Story used to be one that I watched every year
over and over but it made me not like it anymore. I am hoping if I don’t watch
it for a few years I might like it again someday. You can catch it all Christmas Eve and
Christmas Day. This is an honorable mention.
The Polar Express is a movie I just saw a couple years ago.
Noah had watched it in Kindergarten during their pajama party. I had read the
book as a kid, I even got the book with a bell when I was young. I wasn’t sure
what to think when Noah asked if we could watch it, I really enjoyed it though.
It’s so cute and it has a great message.
Muppets Christmas Carol is probably my favorite version of A
Christmas Carol. There are so many of them out there, I just think The Muppets
do it best.
Charlie Brown Christmas is in the words of Noah “EPIC” if
you haven’t seen it, go watch it. It’s not Christmas until you see the little
sad tree and love it anyway. I remember watching this with my Grandma Rose
every Christmas.
Whatever you watch this holiday season, make memories and enjoy time with your loved ones.
