When you travel by car a lot or if you even have a daily
commute, it is smart to get a toll pass for your car. It might sound silly to
get one for Florida if you live in another state, but it’s a good idea. You don’t
have to put a lot of money on it. You can just put $10 on it and use it when
you are traveling. It can not only save you money, but it can also save you
time. You don’t have to worry about having exact change or using your card
while going through a toll. You can even use the fast toll lane. When we were
in Florida, we went over the Sunshine Skyway, and since it was spring break
there were tons of cars. There was even a warning that the toll road was
congested. It took us a while to get to the toll plaza. Thankfully, my mom had
just purchased a sun pass for her car. We could get through the toll fast. We
didn’t have to wait in a really long line, to get through. I know it’s pretty
common to get one for your state, but my mom told me that people do purchase
them when they travel. I thought that’s really smart especially if you return
to the same area a lot. When I was growing up, we went to Florida a lot. We
went a couple times a year. It’s funny because my mom has lived in Florida for
like five years and she just now bought a sun pass.
To save money for the state, they have some unmanned toll
booths, that will take a picture of your car and license plate and send you a
bill in the mail for the toll. If you have a toll pass you won’t have that
happen. I think it’s crazy that they send you a toll ticket. You don’t have an
option to pay it at the toll. It’s always a hassle when you get a bill in the
mail. Now that everything is online, it’s easy to forget to pay it. It could
become a hassle if you move and for some reason they send it to your old
address. You could end up with a fee on top of the toll. It’s definitely something to consider while
you are traveling this summer. My mom bought one after waiting in the toll line
for an hour the week before she bought one.
You can even set it up to reload or if it’s just for travel, add some
money before you leave. No one wants to spend their vacation in a toll line.
