New Children's Joke Books Raise Funds to Help Families Pay for Child Medical Expenses #UHCCFjokes

Noah loves to be funny. It all started when he was a baby. He was always doing funny things even when he didn’t realize it. He used to ham it up big time when he was a baby. If you look at his many baby pictures, you will notice all of the huge smiles. Laughter is really important in our home. Noah and I enjoy telling jokes together. We also enjoy giving each other riddles to solve. Let’s face it though, it can be hard to come up with jokes on your own. Who has time to Google jokes anyways? A lot of those jokes are not kid friendly either. Noah likes to read joke books and entertain me. I made a rule not to really sit and read them so I can genuinely react to the joke. I like to open a joke book and share a joke or two with him. If I see something funny on Facebook or Twitter I will tell him about it. He loves being goofy with me. We do all kinds of silly things like tell jokes, do riddles, dance ridiculously to the Chicken Dance and make sock puppets together.

I learned about two new books that I think Noah would enjoy.  “Little Book-Big Laughs” Knock Knock Book which is a book full of hilarious knock knock jokes and “Little Book- Big Laughs” Riddle Book.  Not only do they help promote laughter and happiness in everyone but they help fund medical grants for children whose medical needs are not fully funded through private insurance. Halloween will be here soon, so why not pick up a few copies of each and hand them out to your little pumpkins as they Trick-or-Treat. It would be a hair raising fun time!

With the help from children nationwide, the UnitedHealthcare Children’s Foundation (UHCCF) has collected knock-knock jokes and riddles for two new joke books available today, on World Smile Day.

The joke books not only provide smiles and laughter, but also help fund child medical grants for families in need. Proceeds from the sales of the books will help fund UHCCF grants that help families pay for children’s medical expenses not covered, or not fully covered, by a commercial health insurance plan. Since 2007, UHCCF has funded more than 10,000 medical grants totaling more than $29 million.

The books – “Little Book - Big Laughs” Riddle Book and Little Book - Big Laughs” Knock-Knock Book include more than 350 knock-knock jokes and 500 riddles submitted by kids – for kids. The books are ideal for children ages 4 to12, but can be enjoyed by people of all ages.

The “Little Book – Big Laughs” books are available at Amazon.com for $5.99 each.

“The inspiration behind these books is to bring smiles and laughter to children, whether in a hospital, in the car or just hanging out with friends and family,” said UHCCF President Matt Peterson. “Earlier this month, we awarded our 10,000th medical grant, and the proceeds from these books will help us further our mission of helping thousands’ more families in the years ahead.”

The first Little Book-Big Laughs joke book was released April Fools' Day 2014 and was a Mom’s Choice Gold Award recipient for juvenile books. The success of the first book propelled the idea to create two additional books for a joke book series.

In addition to the joke books, UHCCF publishes and sells the award-winning Oliver & Hope’s storybooks, along with other fun child toys and products; all available at Amazon. UHCCF recently added two more characters to the Oliver & Hope™ series of super-soft stuffed toys – Charlotte the fox and Hugo the dragon. Proceeds from the books and toys help fund UHCCF child medical grants.
