We will Miss you Lexy.

A couple days ago, we noticed our kitty Lexy was not acting like her self. She wasn't in pain, but was very lazy. That's not normally like her. She hid for the first time in a long time. It took us twenty minutes to find her under a bed. There is a lot of stuff being stored under there. She was almost twenty years old. My sister and I both got kittens when I was 11. Lucy was "mine" but I loved them both equally. Lucy and Lexy lived with me. When Lucy died it was heartbreaking.

Lexy passed away on April 19th sometime in the early morning.  She died peacefully. We are all heartbroken and so sad. She has been in our family for a long time. Noah is heartbroken.  I hated having to tell him. I didn't tell him before school, he didn't ask or I would have.  I knew it would be hard for him to go to school knowing. They were throwing water balloons at the principal for doing their homework over spring break.  When Noah came home he noticed that the litter box was gone. He asked where it was. I sat him down and broke the bad news to him. I held him while we both cried. He said I am glad that Lexy gets to go to heaven and she gets to see Lucy but I am so sad because I miss her and I won't get to see her again.  It is weird not having any pets after 19 years. It becomes routine and you love them so much.

Both Lucy and Lexy are and were extremely loved. They were good and sweet cats that lived long lives.  We miss them terribly.

Now to pick up the pieces of our broken hearts.....

My Neighborhood Directory

I was thinking about the neighborhood garage sale that my neighborhood has twice a year. I know they normally do it in May or June. I thought about possibly doing one myself.  I searched online and found my neighborhood’s website.  I had been there before and it was totally different. I tried to click on different things and a log in page popped up. I was thinking well how do I get a login? I clicked Register and started looking at the form.  One of the first things I noticed was Pet Information, at first I thought, I wonder why that is important. Then I saw it said description and emergency number.  Then it clicked.  I think that is brilliant. I have seen lost pets in our neighborhood, most of the time it was my old neighbor’s dogs, so I knew who they belonged to, but a person a street over might not know.  Pets get out on occasion, they are not just pets, and they are members of someone’s family.  I think it is awesome that my neighborhood is going the extra mile to include that in the online directory.  I would love to see that become a standard in a neighborhood directory all over the US and Canada too.

Of course there are basic information items in the directory too. They have the typical names and ages of your children. That would great for finding kids Noah’s age, and for those friends he meets on the bus.  He starts Kindergarten in August.  He knows his phone number but maybe some other kids won’t.  I will eventually teach him our home phone number too, so my cell phone isn’t the hub of Noah’s social network.

What kinds of things are in your neighborhood directory?

Silly monkey story--The tale of Noah and Bluesee!

.">
Here is my Silly Monkey story. It's now Wednesday again but better late than never right?
My cat is named Lucy. I have had her since the summer before I was in 6Th grade. So she is really old. My son Noah loves her. Lucy however runs like a bat out of hell whenever she sees Noah. Noah is always nice to her. She just isn't used to Noah after all these years. Noah loves to pet her and say Nice Kitty. Lucy will let me hold her so Noah can pet her. He will carefully pet her and then pull away over and over again. Tonight I was holding Lucy and she is extremely soft. While Noah was petting her I kissed her. She has been my kitty for 16 years. So I love her dearly. Noah gave her a kiss too. He said I love you bluesee. Nice Kitty. Good kitty. He kissed her a few more times. He told me about how bluesee has ears and cheeks and legs. He loves to share his juice with Lucy too. He will put his sippy cup up to her like she is taking a drink. He loves Lucy so much and gets excited when he sees her
