Noah loves Movies about Travel

Noah loves the Cars series. The first time he saw Cars 2 was when he really started to love movies. I had tried to watch movies with him before that because I am a huge movie buff. I wanted to pass it along to Noah. He instantly loved Lightning McQueen and Mater. He couldn’t wait for it to come out on DVD. He hadn’t seen Cars before we saw Cars 2. We actually watched Cars on the Disney Cruise. They had free Disney movies you could order from your stateroom. We ended up watching Cars every night of the cruise. I also purchased the movie when we got home. I also pre-ordered Cars 2. I think that he likes Cars 2 more though. We love to have movie nights together where we watch a movie with popcorn. I would let Noah pick out the movie and for months we watched Cars 2 every week. I like the Cars movies too. I think they are really cute.

There are so many cute travel movies out there. I really like Radio Flyer too. I remember seeing it in theaters. It was a very sad movie though. I recently watched Radio Flyer again and I was like woah….I totally missed something. I thought he flew away at the end because it was fantasy but other people think there’s a couple different endings.  I am not sure which I believe though even now. I like to still believe that he flew away even now. The other theories are ones that would ruin my childhood. I also forgot how sad the movie really is. I remembered there was abuse but I think now that I am a mom it just is different.  I also used to love Follow that Bird. If Noah knew that I liked a movie about Big Bird as a big kid he would think I am so silly. We have definitely moved way out of the Sesame Street phase at my house.

Here’s a great list about Road Trip movies for Kids.

I Love Travel Movies!

It's no surprise that I am a huge movie buff. I will talk movies with anyone. It's one of my favorite things to do with family and friends. I also make many movie references and quote them quite often. I also love to travel so movies that feature traveling is a win win in my book. You have a couple different types of travel movies, the funny silly ones and the serious dramas. I had a lot of fun creating a list of road trip movies. There is really something for everything. They are mostly for adults though. I was able to even use a couple of my favorites. One of them is a lesser known weird yet amazing movie that I randomly saw on broadcast TV years and years ago. I was just flipping channels and I didn’t even have cable.  I immediately fell in love with it and ordered it from Amazon that night. The other is a newer movie, that I heard wasn’t too great. I ended up loving it and have watched it every time it has been on HBO.  I think that it's fun to share ordinary experiences with movie characters like traveling. Flying wasn't as popular when I was growing up so my mom, sister and I spent a lot of time in the car. I have luckily only had a few weird experiences while traveling. Nothing compared to the movies on the list. One year we were on our way to Gulf Shores and had to take shelter from a tornado in a Dairy Queen bathroom. I am from the Midwest, so I know tornado safety in my sleep. It's engrained in us from birth. That's probably the craziest thing that has happened to me traveling. We have also ended up in other states but that's no big deal.

Check out my list of great road trip movies.

I Wish I had a Home Cinema System

I love to watch movies. It’s one of my absolute favorite things to do. I don’t like going the theaters much for a few reasons. It’s too expensive, there are other people there, I can’t press pause it if I need to, and I can’t wear my jammies.  Not to mention I eat way too much popcorn and then get a stomach ache.  Noah has started to like movies a little bit, but I remember one time we went to the movies.  He cried and talked during parts of it. He wouldn’t watch it, he ate too much popcorn. He is much better now but man oh man. I prefer to stay at home in my jammies and watch movies.  I can relax and I don’t have to worry about making noises or dealing with people who kick my chair.  One thing I do miss when I watch dvds at home is the surround sound and the THX capabilities.

I don’t have a home theater. I hope to some day to have home cinema speakers from MK Loudspeakers. I remember when I would go with my dad to look at the show homes some of them had movie theaters in their houses. They even had the theater seating.  I thought that was the coolest thing.  I don’t think that I would want to have theater seating because I am too old for that but a nice surround sound system would be great. As big as a movie buff I am I should already have one.  Some TVs especially older ones don’t have great sound so in order to hear the movie or show you have to have it turned up really loud depending on what channel you are watching. When you change the channel it scares you because it is so loud it makes you jump.  I think that if you are however watching a scary movie or a thriller, those loud noises are meant to make you jump and make your heart race.  It can really lose its scare factor when you are watching it at the movies vs. watching it at home without surround sound.  My ex husband and I had made our own home cinema speakers. We used  a big speaker that also dubbed as our coffee table and an old radio receiver hooked up to our TV.  It was nowhere near as nice as an actual system but it worked for a while.  I will have to wait until I am no longer living in an apartment because I wouldn’t get the full effect of having it.

Do you have a home theater system in your home?

I Need New Speakers ASAP!

As a blogger, I spend a lot of time on my laptop to work. I also love to listen to music to help motivate me.  I love all kinds of music so what I will be in the mood for will be a huge variety. When I am listening to music on my computer there is a drawback.  I can’t really hear it very well.  I always have to wear headphones.  Headphones are great when you don’t want to disturb other people but sometimes I would like to just listen to music without something stuck in or on my ears.  I like to lay down and listen to music to relax and that doesn’t work well when you have to make sure you aren’t going to lay on your head phones.  I would love to get speakers to plug in to my laptop. I am not sure why laptop speakers have gone down in quality over the years. I also like to sometimes watch Netflix in bed but it is always hard to hear the movie.  I would love to have wireless speakers around my house so it gives more of a surround sound effect.  I think you miss some things while watching a movie at home than you do in a theater because you can pick up on those little sounds that may be very important to the plot line.

I also love hanging out by the pool or outside with friends. It is fun to have music playing in the background, but unless you have wireless outdoor speakers it is pretty much pointless because you will have to strain to hear the music.  Forget trying to dance because you can’t hear the beat.  I have a friend who talks to her plants every day to help them grow. I think if I had a garden it would be really cool to play classical music through some garden speakers to see if it makes a difference. That would be a really cool science experiment to do with Noah.  We could see which types of music they prefer.  I think that would be so much fun.
