Noah loves Movies about Travel

Noah loves the Cars series. The first time he saw Cars 2 was when he really started to love movies. I had tried to watch movies with him before that because I am a huge movie buff. I wanted to pass it along to Noah. He instantly loved Lightning McQueen and Mater. He couldn’t wait for it to come out on DVD. He hadn’t seen Cars before we saw Cars 2. We actually watched Cars on the Disney Cruise. They had free Disney movies you could order from your stateroom. We ended up watching Cars every night of the cruise. I also purchased the movie when we got home. I also pre-ordered Cars 2. I think that he likes Cars 2 more though. We love to have movie nights together where we watch a movie with popcorn. I would let Noah pick out the movie and for months we watched Cars 2 every week. I like the Cars movies too. I think they are really cute.

There are so many cute travel movies out there. I really like Radio Flyer too. I remember seeing it in theaters. It was a very sad movie though. I recently watched Radio Flyer again and I was like woah….I totally missed something. I thought he flew away at the end because it was fantasy but other people think there’s a couple different endings.  I am not sure which I believe though even now. I like to still believe that he flew away even now. The other theories are ones that would ruin my childhood. I also forgot how sad the movie really is. I remembered there was abuse but I think now that I am a mom it just is different.  I also used to love Follow that Bird. If Noah knew that I liked a movie about Big Bird as a big kid he would think I am so silly. We have definitely moved way out of the Sesame Street phase at my house.

Here’s a great list about Road Trip movies for Kids.

Favorite Childhood Movies

Since Noah is on Spring Break I thought it would be cool to have him watch some of my favorite childhood movies. It prompted me to ask on Facebook and Twitter what people's favorite childhood movies are. I asked not to list Animated Disney movies because everyone loves those. I decided to make a list on my blog. I am not saying I would let Noah watch all of these at his age now. I will watch them with him when he is old enough depending on the movies.

Peter Pan with Mary Martin
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory
Heavyweights
Camp NoWhere
Problem Child
Problem Child 2
Pete's Dragon (ok that is a Disney movie but not like Beauty and the Beast)
The Carebear Movie (he may not watch this one)
Strawberry Shortcake and Big Apple City (or this one)
Huck Finn
North
Radio Flyer
Man of the House with Jonathan Taylor Thomas
Stay Tuned
The Witching of Ben Wagoner
The Witches
The Chipmunk Adventure

That is all I can think of for now. I may update with more.

What are your favorite childhood movies?

My favorite childhood movie

My favorite movie growing up was Peter Pan. I am pretty sure the Peter Pan I loved so much is not the one you are thinking of. It is not the Disney one. In fact the Disney one isn’t even one I particularly care for from what I remember. I haven’t seen it in a very long time. My favorite Peter Pan is the one with Mary Martin. I believe it came out in the 70’s. I love that version. The characters are so much better. The music is awesome. It is so fun to watch. I highly recommend it. I have probably seen it a trillion times. I know all of the words and songs by heart. Of course they sing I won’t grow up and I’ve got to crow. My favorite song is Ugga Wugga Wigwam.

The story is also different. Captain Hook tries to poison Peter Pan twice, once with a cake and once with Peter’s medicine. Tink is represented by a flickering light. Then you have the animals that dance randomly in the Forrest. It is quality entertainment. I had it on VHS when I was little and wore it out I watched it so much. The tape broke. That was a very sad day for me. I am sure I cried.

This Peter Pan is really hard to find. I found it on DVD on Ebay. I happily bid on it. Less than a day later, the seller said I won before the auction was over. I was so excited but then I noticed that they had another copy listed shortly after. Who in the world has more than one copy of Mary Martin’s Peter Pan on DVD? Then I remembered what my mom always says, If it sounds too good to be true than it probably is. I decided not to send the seller the money. Had it ever been released on DVD? I know that is bad on my part since it is a contract.

I went on my little way wanting so much to watch my childhood favorite plus Noah was born before this and I desperately wanted to share the movie with him. The movie has been a big part of my life. I have many fond memories of watching it and running around singing the songs with old friends. About a month after I “won” the DVD that I never paid for. For the record this is the only time I ever didn’t pay. I got an email from Ebay. My heart sunk I was thinking oh no I am in big trouble. The email said that this seller is a scammer and stop payment or whatever. I thought that I was glad I didn’t send it. It was only 30 dollars but that’s still money.

I started watching it on You Tube. I thought that I would look again. I think this time I tried Amazon for the VHS. At the time I had a DVD-r VHS combo thing. So I could watch it. This time it came and I made a backup copy with my machine for my viewing pleasure since the tape is easily over years old and was used. I am excited to share this movie with my son. I am sure he will love it as much as I do.

What are some of your favorite movies as a child to watch? I am interested in hearing your responses.

Wubbzy Goes Boo Review and Giveaway

Wow Wow Everyone! We love Wow Wow Wubbzy at my house. My son loves that little yellow creature. When I told my son we were were going to watch a Wow Wow Wubbzy Dvd, he became very excited. As soon as it started playing, Noah was in a frenzy of running around the house, singing and even rolling on the floor in excitement. He normally doesn’t get that excited about TV. It was really cute he kept saying Wow Wow Wubbzy.

We had the opportunity to view a screener of Wubbzy Goes Boo. It’s our pal Wubbzy in a Halloween dvd. Noah and I love Wubbzy’s adventures and like to see what he gets in to this time.

Noah and I enjoyed watching the dvd. In the first episode, Wubbzy is a magician and is making all kinds of crazy things happen. We really liked the elephant and all the monkeys that were in the barrel. Noah kept looking for them after they disappeared finally. There was a short little episode in between about a kickball tree. Noah liked that one too.

Noah is so smart. There is an episode about Fall where the leaves change colors and the leaves fall off the trees. Noah said “It’s Fall”. We liked the Halloween epsoides too. I won’t give away all the surprises though. The one about the ghost made Noah a little nervous but nothing major. He doesn’t really know much about ghosts so I think it was more surprised than actually scared. Noah learned all kinds of information about Halloween too.

All in all we really like Wubbzy Goes Boo and I hope you will too. In fact as I write this he is chanting Wow Wow Wubbzy, Wow Wow Wubbzy but it is bedtime so it will have to wait until tomorrow.

Thank you to Anchor Bay Entertaiment for sending me the Wubbzy Goes Boo screener.
