Car Seats can only protect your child if you use them
properly. It’s always a good idea to know what the recommendations and laws
are. When Noah was a baby, it was turn their car seat around on their first
birthday and weigh 20 pounds. Noah weighed 20 pounds when he was 5 or 6 months.
He was my little juicy baby. Now they say it’s older. When I was a little kid the rules were even
more lax. I am pretty sure car seats were just recommended and not the law. I
am pretty sure it was perfectly fine to hold a baby or sit on a grown up’s lap
in the car when I was a kid. I have a faint memory of sitting on my Grandma
Rose’s lap when I was in the car as a kid. She didn’t drive so I know she wasn’t
operating the car. I remember sitting in the front seat when I was probably
about 8 years old.
We were supposed to wear seat belts but sometimes snuck them
off or when I was four, I was mad about who knows what... I unbuckled my car seat
and stood up and pulled my dress over my head while my mom was driving. When I
was in daycare, we used to double buckle. I am pretty sure that I no longer in
use. Double buckling is where two people share a seat belt. I have no idea how
that is really safe at all. There was always room and it was inevitably loose
and there were no car seats or boost seats in those daycare vans either. I am
sure now the vans are lined with car seats and booster seats. We all pretty
much survived without GPS, with our tape decks and maybe even a car seat.
