A Special Sheilacakes Annoucement

I am excited to announce that I am now available for press trips and brand trips. Since I am a single mom, it was hard to be able to be available for these trips. Now that Noah is in school, I am able attend without any hassles or asking my mom to take off time from work. I thankfully have options for after school care too.

I would love to represent your brand and learn more about your company. I feel that I am a great candidate because I am a very passionate person and I have great ideas. I would love to share my thoughts with you in a face to face setting. I would love to get in there and see how things are done. I feel that once you experience being in the heart of a company you truly can relate and understand all the hard work that they do. It makes it more personal. I would love to have my voice and my readers voices heard. I feel like I not only represent Sheilacakes, but I also represent my readers and moms everywhere. I would love to open up a dialogue with you.

I also love to travel. It is one of my greatest passions. I am the go to person when it comes to sharing the best places to visit or stay. I think of every trip as an adventure and a chance to experience a new place and culture. Even in the US each state and region is different and I believe you don't have to go to an exotic place to have a great time. Some of my favorite vacations are random places my family has decided to visit.  I am a very family oriented person, my son loves to travel too. He went on his first vacation when he was two months old. I would love to check out some great places to take family. I am a single mom so vacations for my family have to be affordable and lots of fun. I know that having both of those elements can be kind of tricky.  I am also a big advocate that every mom needs mommy time or should go on kid free trips with her friends. It replenishes us, makes us once again ready for motherhood.  So, if you are looking for a traveling mom blogger to check out your hotel, location or city  I  would love to help.

I would love to discuss opportunities that we can work together further. I look forward to hearing from you.

Sheilacakes Cocktail Recipe

A couple years ago, I came up with a drink that I call Sheilacakes. It's kind of one of those made up recipes, I just threw together with what I had. After all that is how all the popular drinks probably started out. Who knows, Sheilacakes could be the next Bahama Mama.
Here is the recipe:
Sheilacakes

2 shots coconut rum
1 shot Peach schnapps
1 Hi-c Flashing Fruit Punch juice box

Mix them all in a big glass and enjoy! Please drink responsibly.

Learning how to Drive

It’s time for yet another Sheilacakes confession.  I don’t have a driver’s license.  I don’t mean that I don’t have one because I lost it or it was suspended.  I mean I don’t know how to drive.  I know that is kind of weird. I just didn’t have a desire to drive. I didn’t get excited about getting my first car or anything.  When I was sixteen a friend of mine was in a serious car accident and became paralyzed so, I was not in any hurry to learn how to drive or get my license. Now that I am a mom to a kindergartener, who has all kinds of programs, has to be taken to and from school, and loves to go to the library, it is about that time to learn.

Here in Florida, you have to take a written test to get your permit now.  I don’t know a whole lot about driving, besides what I learned from riding in a car.  I would probably have to study. I don’t want to have to take it a bunch of times. I don’t have time for that.   I don’t even know what all you need to know for the test.  I have thought about doing private driving lessons.  I don’t want to be a 31 year old mom who is in driver’s education courses with 15 year olds.  They are immature and wouldn’t take the class seriously. I am too old and too busy to have kids goofing off when I am trying to actually learn.  Thankfully, with the internet and sites about driver’s education, I will be in a good place to start looking for a school to attend to be able to drive. My Grandma Rose didn’t drive either. I think she drove once and that was enough for her.  My grandpa always did all the driving and he didn’t mind one bit.

Do you know any adults that don’t know how to drive?

Sprout For Parents!

I wanted to share with you guys an article I wrote for Sprout for Parents. Sprout For Parents is the parent’s website for PBS Sprout. It contains all kinds of really cool information and ideas from everything from parenting to recipes to craft ideas for adults. It is a great addition to Sprout Online. I really enjoy reading the articles and learning new things. It is something every parent should check out in my opinion. There are things there for parents of any age not just preschoolers.

I am incredibly honored to be a part of Sprout, as a member of The Band of Bloggers and now part of Sprout for Parents as an expert and contributor. My article is about scrapbooking, which is such a fun hobby of mine. I really enjoyed writing the article and I hope it helps people that want to learn more about scrapbooking.

So, go check out my article called Scrapbooking 101. and look around and make sure you bookmark it and come back often because they are always adding new content.

3. I know all of the words to Bohemian Rhapsody by heart and I love Wayne’s World, so much that my childhood best friend and I dressed up like Wayne and Garth and acted out the whole movie.

4. I have the hugest crush on Mark Harmon. OK. You probably already knew that.

5. My favorite soda is Dr. Pepper and my favorite chocolate is Cadbury Flakes

Noah calls it The Sims. I know all of you said The Shimpshons out loud, because everyone always does.

15. I really like John Ritter. I really think he was a wonderful actor that didn’t get the respect that he deserved.

Happy 100th post to me!

This is my 100th blog post. I have come a long way so far. I know I have a lot to learn still. I would like to thank my readers especially the ones that have been reading since the beginning.I would also like to thank all my blogging friends for their continued support. There are so many of them. It would be hard to name them all. I have a lot of really cool things coming up in the future. I hope you continue to read my blog. I am really looking forward to many years to come.

To celebrate I am going to eat a Christmas tree cake. I thought about making cupcakes with Noah earlier but he wasn't in a good mood. He is better now. We laid in my bed together with pillows and my blanket and watched Dora before bed. I let him stay up and watch it tonight. I have a feeling that is going to become an every day occurrence which is fine with me. It is so fun to snuggle up with my little boy.

Happy 100th blog post to me and Many Many MORE to come!

Spotlight on PR!

Spotlight
Feels Like Home and Adrienne’s House are hosting a wonderful event called Spotlight on PR.

You are now in a PR friendly zone! Fasten your seat belts and ENJOY the ride.
Hello and welcome to my blog. My name is Sheila. I am a stay at home mom to a little boy named Noah. He will be three in September. You will find a good variety of things on my blog. It is just my little place to connect with others. I love to write about my son because he is the most adorable little boy. He is very smart and very sweet. I also write about my family and friends. I enjoy sharing my opinions about products with others. I have been known to email companies and tell them when I love their products. I am also not afraid to speak up when I have an issue with something either. As my grandmother always told me Honesty is the best policy. That is a philosophy that I use in everyday life as should everyone. There should be an open line of communication between the consumer and the company. I think that a good relationship between the company and the consumer is the most important asset.

I spend my time with my son, my family and friends. I love to cook; I have been cooking for as long as I can remember. I also love to eat. Traveling is another one of my favorite past times. I am an avid scrapbooker and card maker. One of the ways I like to unwind is by watching a good movie or one of my favorite TV shows.

I always consider myself as unique. I am unique because I have a big heart. I truly care about others. I try and help people any way I can. I am compassionate. I am 100%genuine and real. I am a hard worker and have a vast knowledge in a variety of topics. I love to do research and learn new things. I am a rare gem in today’s society. Sadly, now a days good people are hard to find.

I will hear any pitch with an open mind as long as it doesn’t go against my morals or is illegal. I look forward to hearing from you and forming a great relationship with you.
