Toddlers and Tiaras Teaches Little Girls Appearance is Everything

I wrote a post about what is wrong with tv these days and I was thinking about what shows like Toddlers and Tiaras and Little Miss Perfect teach little girls. Ok I don't think Little Miss Perfect is on any more.  I know these are not kids shows but there are still commercials for them and they appear on talk shows and they sometimes cover it on the news. I am concerned with child beauty pageants anyways. I am sure some people will argue that it teaches self esteem and blah blah blah. There are more healthy ways to teach self esteem. There are better ways to feel good about your self. Beauty pageants focus on outer beauty and they are forced to wear gobs and gobs of makeup and wear fake teeth called flippers. They are many times the little girls are dressed in skimpy little outfits that I would never wear as a grown woman. They look fake.

They are taught to be fake little puppets that are are taught that the most important thing in the world is to be beautiful and to have the prettiest face. What is wrong with letting kids be kids? Why not teach them that they are beautiful without the makeup and the false teeth and spray tans. Beauty comes from within. It doesn't matter what you look like as long as you are kind and have a good heart.  Beauty isn't putting on clown makeup and being told by judges that you are the most beautiful. You don't need someone judging you on your appearance. How you feel about yourself is what is important. The parents need to stop brainwashing their children but subjecting their little ones to judgement and paying for them to be judged. It's almost as if they are trying to prove to themselves that their child is good enough. Every child and person is good enough, and no one should have to tell you that. If you don't believe it, it doesn't matter how many pageants you have won or how many times you are told a day you have to believe it.

Loving yourself is the most important thing.

High School Students using Craigslist for Fraud?

I occasionally browse Craigslist for writing jobs. I have never done one but I like to look and see what is potentially out there. I also look for social media jobs that would be interesting. I was browsing Craigslist as I normally do and I saw that a couple people were looking for someone to do school work for them. One person wanted to pay someone to do his online work and another one wanted someone to finish all of his friends high school course work.  This is so wrong! It is totally dishonest and bad. It reminds me of when tv shows would talk about people buying someone's old reports or even a kid doing a bully's homework. I didn't realize this was going on. If Noah ever tried that he would be in so much trouble. Is this a new trend? Why isn't Craigslist doing anything? This brings cheating to a whole new level. Who knows if the person who did online school or online college is really the person holding the degrees? Man, this is so sad.

This is a real Craigslist posting. I took the screenshot myself.

They are looking for someone smart. No way! You have to complete a really long and I mean really long list of things which all have a final exam. There are probably about 40 things on the list. You have to do it in five days but if you complete it in less than five then you get a $100 bonus. The best part of this ad... You have to keep it a secret. My dear sweet Craigslist user. You don't know about IP addresses do you? They know where you are. They can find out who you are. You want to scam some school and you publicly post about it on Craigslist.  You are not only breaking moral laws but I am sure there are some kind of fraud laws that you, your friend, and the person hired are breaking.   You are also defrauding the Florida Department of Education. Obviously  your friend has slacked off for who knows how long but then all the sudden has the urge to amount to something and gets everything done in five days or less. He will get a B average too.  That is not at suspicious, not one tiny bit.

So, if you work for the online high school in Florida and someone gets all his work done in five days or less with a b average it might be worth taking a look at it.  My dear sweet Craigslist poster don't worry your friend can still get their high school diploma in prison. Don't give up hope.

Black Friday?

Call me crazy, but I don’t understand the hype of Black Friday. I mean seriously, what is the point? Maybe there is something I don’t see. I hate crowds of people, grabbing things out of your cart when you aren’t looking, waiting in really long lines just to get a deal. It seems silly to me. If it is something you enjoy that is wonderful. It’s just not for me. One year we went to Wal-mart on Thanksgiving, just to go and get out for a little bit. It was like 8 pm when we left, we drove buy Best Buy and there were people standing in line already. It was cold and was weird to see people waiting for that long just to go shopping.

I haven’t really seen anything that would be worth my time to wait that long or go out period on Black Friday. I have only really done Black Friday once, that was enough for me. I went with an old friend so he could have company. I was very cranky at the end of it. I did not have any fun what so ever. I don’t think he even bought anything because the lines were ridiculously long everywhere we went. There are sales all the way up till the week before Christmas. I just don’t know why it is that big of a deal. I could see if you were buying like a TV or something that was extremely marked down that normally would cost a fortune. Otherwise, just to get a toy for your child for Christmas? With online sales and websites you can pretty much find anything online from the comforts of your own home.

It’s not like when we were kids and our parents or grandparents had to actually go to the stores to buy the hot item of the year. I think that anything I wanted for Christmas I always got, or if I didn’t it didn’t traumatize me enough that I remember now. I survived. There were not huge tears and disappointment on Christmas Eve or Christmas Morning unless you count the whole silts, Barbie bed, Cabbage Patch cradle Christmas, which started with me crying on Christmas Eve, followed by my sister crying on Christmas morning.

Black Friday has turned in to this HUGE ordeal. I mean I think I have heard a lot more about Black Friday than Thanksgiving. That makes me very sad. Thanksgiving is an actual holiday when we remember what we are thankful for and about family. Black Friday is a day of greed and sales. It’s not even a holiday yet it gets more attention than Thanksgiving.

For Black Friday I will stay home. I will spend time with my family and play games and drink hot chocolate and snack on treats and make memories with my son, because Black Friday does not matter to me. There is also a Law and Order SVU marathon on. I can still find good deals on gifts; I am not worried about that.

So what if it costs me a little more, it is too much hassle and stress for me. I might shop online, but I haven’t found anything really worth it.
If you are going out for Black Friday, I wish you luck on finding deals and hope that you have a safe and happy experience.

Good thing I went outside when I did....

I went outside and was sitting on my screened porch. I noticed the neighbors had their fire pit going. No big deal right. I thought its kinda weird to have it lit at 3 pm in the afternoon as they like to sit around it at night. So I am sitting there and watching the little white pieces of ash float around. Then the mom comes out from the other side of the house and puts a 4 foot piece of carpet or rug on the fire. I am thinking that's not a smart thing to do. But these are the people that burn furniture. So I am sitting there hoping my house doesn't catch fire. All the sudden I notice that the grass is on fire. I thought that maybe it was a big piece of ash or something still red. Nope the grass was on fire. My neighbors weren't outside watching the fire. So I panicked and I went next door and ring the door bell and no one answers I ring it again and then finally the son answers and I was like hi your grass is on fire. The fire is going but the grass is on fire too. I really hope they have one of those home warranty insurance plans to protect themselves from their crazy escapades.

Mind you these are people that seem to forget to put the collar on their dogs so they run all over the place. When I went back in my house I looked and the mom is standing out by the fire. I live next door to these people and I love my son and my house and I don't want anything to happen to my family or stuff. I am gonna go check again. There is a reason you aren't supposed to burn carpet and rugs. That's what trash cans are for.

Update: I went downstairs and looked and the fire is out now.
