Watching Old Movies

As you probably know I am a huge movie junkie. My mom isn't really in to watching movies. I have been able to coax her in to watching an occasional movie with me. Most Saturday nights we watch Law and Order on Netflix. We went to the library and I checked out some DVDs to watch. I asked my mom if she wanted to watch Strangers on a Train with me. She agreed. We have watched a couple other black and white movies together. I have wanted to watch Strangers on a Train since I saw an episode of NCIS where DiNozzo talks about it. I of course mentioned it to my mom.

We watched it and it was a great movie. I admittedly was a little scared. We decided we would watch all the Hitchcock movies we could together. Aunt Clara from Bewitched is in it. So is Alfred Hitchcock's daughter, who I decided is a red head. For some reason both my mom and I were both laughing uncontrollably during the most intense scene in the movie. I couldn't stop. I was laughing so hard I was bawling. I also snorted a few times I am sure. I really needed to laugh and for some reason we picked the climax to do so.

After the movie, I turned on NCIS and it was the episode where they talk about Strangers on a Train. I thought that was pretty weird.

Do you like black and white movies? Have you seen Strangers on a Train? What did you think of it?

Clinch App Review

Noah is definitely a ham. He is just like his mama. I used to love being the center of attention on videos and in pictures. Noah is the same way. He loves when I make little videos of him on my phone or camera. He has his own camera that he produces episodes of The Noah Show on. It has a theme song and everything. I have so many little videos of Noah throughout the years; it is hard to know what to do with them all.  I recently learned about an app called Clinch. You can mix your photos and videos to make really awesome keepsakes and videos for loved ones. You can also mix them with your family or friend’s videos and photos.  I absolutely love this idea because when we have family get-togethers there are so many of us and it is hard to remember to send the photos or videos to 20 different people, this way it can be sent to just one of us, probably me, and I can email it or put it on Facebook for everyone to see.  Clinch is also really cool because, my sister and brother in law are horrible about sending me pictures and videos of Noah that they take when they are visiting.  I am hoping Clinch will give them more of an incentive.  I will include unseen footage of Noah too. The last video I received from them of Noah was from his third birthday, when they taught him how to beg for money. It was so cute and funny, until a police officer walked by. Thankfully he too thought it was funny, and didn’t say anything but smile and laugh. I think that Clinch would be great for wedding videos too.  Almost everyone has an iPhone or an iPod or an iPad to take video of the couple’s happy day during the reception or special toasts.
Here is some information from the developer:

Description
Clinch - My Video Butler. An automatic video editor that creates amazing short movies from all your best videos and photos. One of Clinch's coolest feature is that it helps you create a collaborative movie by mixing and editing your videos and photos with friends around you.

It all happens automatically:

With a click of a button Clinch analyzes the best parts and adds more cool related stuff from around you. It then edits it all together (hands free…) with amazing transitions, filters and more.

Clinch is especially great when you and your friends go together to music concerts, sport events and parties… Capture it, and let Clinch do the rest. You can also explore movies by other users, see what’s trending around the world and what’s popular nearby. Follow other clinchers to add them to your movie feed and share movies on Twitter, Facebook and Email.

Ten Movies I Can't Stand

I have blogged about my favorite movies so it’s only fair that I blog about movies I hate or don’t like. I am a huge movie buff. One of my favorite things about my trip to visit my aunt and uncle was talking about movies with my aunt.  She loves movies as much as I do which is awesome because my mom isn’t a big movie watcher. We always sit around and watch movies at my aunt and uncles house. It is so relaxing so here is my list of movies I don’t like, in no particular order.

Napoleon Dynamite-  This was the stupidest movie I have ever seen. The only time I laughed was when there was a llama on the screen and that was because I was watching it with my old best friend and we had inside jokes about llamas and the teacher who said he ate them.

Queen of the Damned- Really this movie made no sense to me.  I wouldn’t sit through it again for a truckload of cash.

The Order- I turned it off after the first five minutes.

Monty Python and the Holy Grail- I know it is supposed to be British humor but it drove me crazy, especially when the Knights who say Nee come on. Then you hear Nee for three weeks after. I actually was dumb enough to buy my ex that movie and it was the first one I put in his pile when I kicked him out. I ended up getting another copy from a friend it was in a bag of dvds she didn’t want. Needless to say it was at Blockbuster two hours after she left.

Underworld enough said.

March of the Penguins- I went with my old best friend and her kids, thinking it was a kids movie. We were all disappointed when we realized it was a documentary. I think we all almost fell asleep.

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

Anything with Cheech and Chong

The Ring- it gave me nightmares for a week.

The Notebook- Really I am not in to anything from Nicholas Sparks, I didn’t like Message in a Bottle       either.

There are 10 movies I don’t like. I am sure there are more. What are some movies that you can’t stand? That you cringe anytime you think about it. I would love to hear what you have to say and what you pick.

Weird Looking Actors

I absolutely love movies. I have seen so many movies. I always look at the actors features and I thought it would be a good blog post to talk about some of the different looking actors. It is really hard not to type cast an actor for a role they played especially if it a memorable one or one that might of scared you. I want to talk about four actors in particular.

1. Christopher Walken. I think that Christopher Walken is an amazing actor. I think the first movie I saw him in was Sleepy Hollow. Let me tell you, that movie scared me. I saw it on a date with this guy, who has its own crazy story all of its own. So, naturally since he was the Hessian, he scared me. He was very scary looking to me for a long time. I ended up eventually getting over it. I love every movie I have ever seen with him in it. He was amazing in The Prophecy Trilogy. I think that I have accepted that he is always going to play some kind of different role or something to do with the Mafia.

2. Dustin Hoffman. I have kind of mixed feelings on this one. His roles when he was younger he was attractive, like in The Graduate. Unfortunately, I have seen Hook way too many times to count. So, I always think of him as Captain Hook, not so much the Captain Hook that was wearing the wig, but the one without the wig. It was pretty scary looking, if you ask me. I have no doubt that he is a great actor, he was great in Rain Man when he was younger, and in Last Chance Harvey He was absolutely wonderful in Hero with Geena Davis. I just can’t help but remember how different looking he was in Hook. I know it was a costume and a role but it sort of ruined Dustin Hoffman for me.

3. Billy Zane. I am sorry but he just gives me the creeps. There is just something about him. I am not sure if it is his voice or something about his face. I think that he makes a great villain like in Titanic. He always plays actors that you don’t want to like. Even when he was the fake Damon Bradley in Only You he ended up being a bad guy and a jerk.

4. Steve Buscemi. He always plays crazy supporting roles. He is pretty goofy looking. I am sure that is part of his charm and how he gets the roles he does. He has been in so many movies from Fargo to almost anything with Adam Sandler. There is another actor that I constantly get him confused with. That actor is Sean Whalen who played Carl Wayne Bishop in Jury Duty and has been in a lot of movies too like Vegas Vacation. Sean also was in the famous Got Milk commercial where he can’t say Aaron Burr. I always get them confused. I know I can’t be the only one.

Have I forgotten anyone? What do you think of my picks? Let me know what you think!

11 More Movie Quotes I love.

I love to watch movies and quote them too. So I thought I would share 11 more of my favorite movie quotes with you all. Just for fun. These are in no particular order they are all quotes that I love from different movies.

11. Just remember that in every pothole there is hope. Well, you see, pothole is spelled P-O-T-H-O-L-E. So if you take the P, and add it to the H, the O, and the E, and rearrange the letters... or contrariwise, you remove the O, T, and the L, you get "hope". So, just remember, in every pothole there is hope! -Mixed Nuts.

10. Get busy living or Get busy dying. -The Shawshank Redemption

9. If you are gonna spew… Spew in this. –Wayne’s World

8. Oh no We’ve been Cloned- White Chicks

7. What will you give me for a basket of kisses? A basket of kisses? Why, I’ll give you a basket of hugs. – The Bad Seed.

6. You can't right all the wrongs of this world by yourself. – The Hunchback of Notre Dame

5. That is why they elected me.. dun dun dun.. Jury Foreman – Jury Duty

4. You know, for kids- The Hudsucker Proxy

3. Well then... what's orange? If this is red, I wanna know, What's orange?- Requiem For a Dream

2. Ladies and gentleman the perfect meatloaf – Serial Mom

1. You tell them that our lives can change with every breath we take... and tell 'em to hold on like hell to what they've got: each other, and a mother who would die for them and almost did... You tell them we've all got meanness in us, but we've got goodness too. And the only thing worth living for is the good. And that's why we've got to make sure we pass it on. – Where the Heart Is

What are some of your favorite movie quotes?

I am Jack's Bot

If you know me at all, ever had interaction with me, you know how much I love the movie Fight Club. I have seen it a bajillion times. I know the whole movie by heart and love to quote it and tweet about it. I feel sorry for my friends like Brandy of Happily Blended because she has to deal with me all the time talking about it. When I found out she hates Fight Club, I was completely baffled. How can someone hate Fight Club? How can one of my dearest friends of all people hate Fight Club? It was almost terms for ending the friendship but I gave her a pass. Of course I am kidding but I just don’t understand. I would never sit down with my mom and watch it because I know she would hate it, but she is my mom. I just thought that everyone loves Fight Club because it’s Fight Club. I have known people that have never seen it and won’t. They are really missing out.

To be fair I have a faint memory of being at Blockbuster a long time ago and my friend or someone I dated, it’s been a while, asked me if I have seen it and I said no, don’t want to. I thought it was a boxing movie and I hated Snake Eyes. It wasn’t until a year or so later that my ex bought it at K-mart and had me sit down and watch it. I loved it, I watched it over and over. I demanded that I got to keep it when I kicked him out. I got to keep all my favorite movies because he kept his guitar. Fight Club is not about boxing and it is hardly about fighting. It is just like a small part of it. If you haven’t seen it, watch it. It is brilliant. It is definitely a movie for adults. I wouldn’t recommend watching it with your children, it is very inappropriate for anyone under 17. They talk about Martha Stewart in it. You know how much I love Martha.

Shortly after joining Twitter and tweeting about Fight Club I noticed that I was getting replies from someone called Iamjacksbot. In the movie the narrator played by Edward Norton reads a series called I am Jack’s Colon; I am Jack’s Medulla Oblongata to name a few. He also uses I am Jack’s to describe how he is feeling in certain parts of the movie. IamJacksBot is an automated bot (I believe) that whenever anyone on Twitter mentions the words “Fight Club” it will tweet you a random quote from the movie. One day recently I wanted to mention IamJacksBot in a tweet and if you look at the top it will tell you who you follow that also follows someone. There is was…. Martha Stewart. Martha Stewart follows IamJacksbot on Twitter. She won’t follow me, but will follow the Fight Club bot.

I didn’t realize that Martha Stewart was such a big Fight Club fan. I mean Martha Stewart just doesn’t seem like she would be a fan or condone such a movie. I was floored. I guess Martha is an interesting person and created Whatever Martha where her daughter and friend made fun of her. I wish they would bring back that show. I loved it. The talk show is not very good in my opinion. I guess you can learn a lot of things about celebrities on Twitter. For the record it made me love Martha even more.
What do you think of Fight Club? Have you seen it? Its brilliant isn’t it?

Have Yourself A Movie Little Christmas Review

Photobucket

I love movies. I really enjoy Christmas movies too. I don’t really have a favorite Christmas movie because there are so many to choose from. A couple Christmas movies I really like to watch are A Christmas Story and Mixed Nuts. I am sure everyone has seen A Christmas Story at least a thousand times. It is on over and over again on Christmas. I am certain many of you have not seen Mixed Nuts. It is a great movie with a very young Adam Sandler, Steve Martin and Rita Wilson aka Tom Hanks wife. It is about a nonprofit business that runs a suicide hotline, a pregnant woman, a guy in a Santa suit with a gun and the sea side strangler. It is very funny and it keeps you on your toes. I highly recommend both movies.

I am featuring the book Have Yourself a Movie Little Christmas in my holiday gift guide. This book is written by Film Critic Alonso Duralde and it features all the best and the worst Christmas movies. Some of the movies in the book I didn’t consider as traditional Christmas movies although all the classics are in there. It’s A Wonderful Life, any version of A Christmas Carol you can think of including Mr. Magoo’s Christmas Carol. Each listing has a description of the movie and they are all in different categories such as movies that are for kid’s, movies for adults, and more specific chapters with very clever names instead of horror movies for example the chapter is called They'll Be Scary Ghost Stories: Holiday Horror. He refers to the worst Christmas movies as The Worst Christmas Movies Ever: Lumps of Coal in Your Cinema Stocking.

This is a must have gift for the movie lover on your list, I myself am an avid movie watcher and I really enjoy reading Have Yourself A Movie Little Christmas. Noah likes to look at the book too. He calls it Mommy’s movie book. I have plenty of new movie suggestions to watch during the holidays some to share with Noah and some for mommy time!

Have Yourself a Movie Little Christmas sells for $16.99 at all major retail book sellers as well as all major online book stores.

Thank you to Alonso Duralde for providing me with a review copy of Have Yourself a Movie Little Christmas to review.

I love Disney movies! The movie The Princess and the Frog comes out on DVD and Blu-Ray on Tuesday March 16, 2010. MOTHERHOOD DVD Review and Giveaway- 2 winners

Photobucket
As you all know, I love to watch movies. Some of my favorites are ones that I can relate to. I think they should make more movies about being a mom. There are some great ones but I have a new one to throw in the mix. It’s called MOTHERHOOD. Raising kids is never easy. Eliza Welsh (Uma Thurman), a stay-at-home mom of two, finds this out first hand on a seemingly endless day when she must plan her daughter’s birthday party, deal with her scatterbrained husband (Anthony Edwards), saver her car from being towed, and write an essay for a parenting magazine before the approaching dead line. That’s motherhood.

Eliza Welch (Thurman) is a former fiction writer-turned-mom-blogger with her own site, “The Bjorn Identity”. Putting her deeper creative ambitions on hold to raise her two children, Eliza lives and works in two rent-stabilized apartments in a walk-up tenement building smack in the middle of an otherwise upscale Greenwich Village. Eliza’s good-natured but absent-minded husband (Edwards) seems tuned out to his wife’s conflicts, not to mention basic domestic reality, while her best friend Sheila (Minnie Driver) understands this – and Eliza -- all too well.

I thought MOTHERHOOD was hilarious. I couldn’t stop laughing. I could totally relate to some of the things that Eliza goes through. I am sure most moms can relate to this movie and would highly enjoy it. It would be a great movie to watch with your other mom friends on a Girl’s Night Out. You could swap your own motherhood stories. I know I have some doozies.

I will share one of them with you guys. My cousin was visiting with her kids when Noah was about 4 months old and he had a dirty diaper. I went to go change it and I noticed that he wasn’t quite finished going to the bathroom so, I closed up his diaper and waited for him to finish. After I changed him, I came back out with Noah to spend some more time with my family. I was sitting there and I ran my finger through my hair, which is something I do often and noticed I had something in my hair, I thought it was spit up. I was wrong. I had Noah’s poop in my hair. My cousin’s kids thought it was hilarious. They even called their dad and told him about it. I’m telling you Motherhood is definitely not easy!

VeggieTales: Pistachio Review and Giveaway- 2 Winners

Photobucket

I used to teach Sunday school and I would do some occasional babysitting during the week. Most of the time when I would babysit during the church events, we would watch a video, this was back when VCR’s were still big. We would always watch a VeggieTales tape. I enjoyed watching it with the kids back then and I decided when I became a mom that I wanted my child to watch VeggieTales too. I really like the characters, stories and messages. I also think they do a great job of holding a child’s attention. Watching Christian based DVD’s with my son is important to me. We have another series we really like to watch too. So, when I had the opportunity to review the newest VeggieTales DVD Pistachio, I was really excited. I only had one VeggieTales DVD that I had bought online.

Check out the Trailer for Pistachio here

VeggieTales is made by Big Idea Entertainment. It stars all kinds of fun vegetables. There is Larry who is a cucumber and Bob who is a tomato to name a couple. All of the stories are made to teach you a lesson and it also uses Christian values and morals to help the Veggies learn about right and wrong. They sing the cutest songs too. My favorite VeggieTales song is God is bigger than the boogie man. The songs are catchy and they get stuck in your head really easily. They are so much fun to dance to and sing along.

When I received the DVD, I couldn’t wait to watch it with Noah. He really enjoyed watching it. He talked about the different veggies. He loves to name things he sees. Pistachio really gauged his interest and he thought it was hilarious. At one point he was laughing so hard I thought he was going cry. His laughter was deep belly laughs and I could tell he really likes it. He liked it so much that he asked to watch it again. He only asks to watch something again if he thought it was good. Of course I couldn’t resist his little please can I? Can I? Can I? Mommy please? I hope you all check it out with your little VeggieTales fan. It is a great movie that all ages will enjoy. I thought it was adorable and really liked it.

For more information and to order please visit Big Idea Entertainment’s Website. You can also find Pistachio at a store near you.

Thank you to Big Idea Entertainment for providing me with a complimentary copy of Pistachio for my family to review and providing the giveaway prizes.

I have a giveaway for you. Two (2) lucky readers are going to win a copy of the Pistachio DVD.

Mandatory entry: Please visit Big Idea Entertainment's website and tell me another VeggieTales DVD you would like to purchase.

Movies Movies Movies

I am a movie quoter. That means I will quote movies in every day life. I do it all the time most people like my mom will just look at me strangely and say what are you talking about. Sometimes I explain it and sometimes I am like never mind. There are a few people out there that know what I am talking about. I love to watch movies.

I spend a lot of my time watching them I thought I would share with you some of my favorites that are not as well known as others, but are great movies none the less.

Most people I know that have seen Requiem for a Dream do not like it. They say it is depressing well, hello it is supposed to be. It’s about addiction and the down side of it. It talks about other addictions besides drugs. I really think everyone should see that movie that is over 18 since it does have some hard parts to it to swallow. I think that it would make people rethink using drugs and having other addictions as well.

It is definitely not a movie that glamorizes drug use like Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas or a Cheech and Chong movie. Both I can’t understand why anyone would sit down and watch. That of course is just my opinion. It starts out in Summer when things are all happy and dreams are big. You know the magic that Summer has. It goes through the Seasons with each getting progressively worse. I will not give anything else away as I believe it is a must see movie even if it is just an Indie Film. There are Four main characters and you follow all 4’s stories about addiction and dreams. It is definitely a favorite of mine. I recommend you should see it. You might even learn something.

Serial Mom is one of the greatest movies EVER. I remember the first time I saw it. It was on USA or TNT when I was over at a friends house spending the night. It was great. Something you got to know about me is I am the biggest scardey cat. I hate scary movies. In fact I get scared really easily. So when I saw this movie I thought it was cool how they make fun of scary serial killer movies by making a happy homemaker as the Serial Killer. It is a funny movie and I love it. Any time I make meatloaf I say Ladies and Gentlemen the perfect Meatloaf as I set it on the stove. Yes I am aware she says that when she serves it. I also learned from Ms. Beverly Sutphin that you can’t wear white shoes after Labor Day. You just can’t! It also stars a very young Jack McCoy as Beverly’s husband Eugene. Yes he makes that same face he does in Law and Order when they read the verdict.

I also love the movie Kalifornia. It is about a writer and his girl friend who decide that he is going to write a book about serial killers by visiting famous murder sites and his girlfriend is a photographer. They meet up with Early and Adele who are hillbillies and Early and Adele are trying to go to California. Early has a really bad temper and well I won’t ruin the rest. It stars David Duchovny and Brad Pitt. Juliette Lewis is also in the movie. It is a great movie that I think didn’t get the recognition that it truly deserves. The only reason I saw it was because it was on a local station back in 2003. I didn’t have cable and so, shows were limited. They would occasionally play a movie on one of the channels on a Sunday afternoon.

Another one of my favorite movies is The Hudsucker Proxy. It stars Tim Robbins and Jennifer Jason Leigh who was amazing in Single White Female btw. Tim Robbins plays a guy named Norville Barnes from Muncie Indiana and he starts working at Hudsucker Industries in the mail room. Mr. Hudsucker jumped out the window and died and now the board needs a nit wit to pretty much ruin the company by becoming the president. Norville is an idea man so, the boards plan doesn’t exactly carry out the way they want it too. Jennifer Jason Leigh plays a reporter named Amy Archer who wants to see Norville Barnes fail. She even goes undercover to get the scoop. It is a fun, light hearted movie. Tim Robbins is an amazing actor with a lot of talent.

So, there you have it folks. Requiem For A Dream, Serial Mom, Kalifornia and The Hudsucker Proxy. Go rent them. They are all great movies. Have you seen any of these? If you have what do you think of them? Also what are some of your favorite unknown movies?

Shhh! I have a confession!

This is a TOP SECRET Sheilacakes confession. Please don't tell anyone!

I am guilty of watching those cheesy Lifetime Movies. I love them. Not the sappy romantic ones. They bore me to tears! I love the ones where someone is killed and there is all kinds of mystery and suspense with horrible acting. I watched a movie called “My Neighbor’s Secret”. It was pretty good. It wasn’t anything impressive. Here is the plot: A man and woman get killed in the airport parking garage while her husband is at a business meeting. Come to find out the husband had the wife killed cause she was having an affair or something. They never really made it clear. Then the husband started stalking the neighbor’s wife and falls in love with him and he hates her husband because he got her a job and blah blah blah.

You know how it is at the end. The bad guy gets hurt or killed in some weird fashion. This time it was being stabbed by the neighbor’s wife after she accidentally stabbed her own husband. Although he wasn’t killed he ended up in the nut house. There are never really good endings to those movies. They are all very predictable too. Yet I still find pleasure and watching them. They are fun to make fun of too.

My mom and I watched a lot of them when I was pregnant with my son. I don’t watch them too often though. I think my favorite “Lifetime Movie” is A Girl Like Me. That is a good one, It is about Gwen Araujo and she was murdered for being a trans-gender. It is a real story too. I also thought Why I Wore Lipstick to My Mastectomy was a great movie. It is also a true story about a woman who is in her twenties when she found out she has Breast Cancer. She wore red lipstick because it gave her courage to fight her battle with Breast Cancer. I definitely cried at the end like a baby. I am not saying I don’t like some warm fuzzy movies cause I do, just not normally on Lifetime. Well unless they are “real” movies.

I started watching a movie called Karla, it is a true story about the Barbie and Ken Killers. Karla was an abused woman who got sucked in to her boyfriend’s rape and murdering spree in Canada. I watched about forty five minutes of it before I had to turn it off. It was a good movie, it was just scaring me. It was late and I kept hearing noises outside and I was spooked. Normally I love watching Lifetime but occasionally it will scare me.

I am so lucky to have both Lifetime and The Lifetime Movie Network so I can indulge in all the cheesy movies I want! ? I couldn’t get in to the Nora Roberts or the holiday movies on Lifetime. I actually got sick of Fa-la-la Lifetime because all the movies were all happy and sappy. Seriously people how many different ways can people be “related to” Santa Claus? Do you like Lifetime Movies? Does your husband watch them with you? What are some of your favorites?

My favorite childhood movie

My favorite movie growing up was Peter Pan. I am pretty sure the Peter Pan I loved so much is not the one you are thinking of. It is not the Disney one. In fact the Disney one isn’t even one I particularly care for from what I remember. I haven’t seen it in a very long time. My favorite Peter Pan is the one with Mary Martin. I believe it came out in the 70’s. I love that version. The characters are so much better. The music is awesome. It is so fun to watch. I highly recommend it. I have probably seen it a trillion times. I know all of the words and songs by heart. Of course they sing I won’t grow up and I’ve got to crow. My favorite song is Ugga Wugga Wigwam.

The story is also different. Captain Hook tries to poison Peter Pan twice, once with a cake and once with Peter’s medicine. Tink is represented by a flickering light. Then you have the animals that dance randomly in the Forrest. It is quality entertainment. I had it on VHS when I was little and wore it out I watched it so much. The tape broke. That was a very sad day for me. I am sure I cried.

This Peter Pan is really hard to find. I found it on DVD on Ebay. I happily bid on it. Less than a day later, the seller said I won before the auction was over. I was so excited but then I noticed that they had another copy listed shortly after. Who in the world has more than one copy of Mary Martin’s Peter Pan on DVD? Then I remembered what my mom always says, If it sounds too good to be true than it probably is. I decided not to send the seller the money. Had it ever been released on DVD? I know that is bad on my part since it is a contract.

I went on my little way wanting so much to watch my childhood favorite plus Noah was born before this and I desperately wanted to share the movie with him. The movie has been a big part of my life. I have many fond memories of watching it and running around singing the songs with old friends. About a month after I “won” the DVD that I never paid for. For the record this is the only time I ever didn’t pay. I got an email from Ebay. My heart sunk I was thinking oh no I am in big trouble. The email said that this seller is a scammer and stop payment or whatever. I thought that I was glad I didn’t send it. It was only 30 dollars but that’s still money.

I started watching it on You Tube. I thought that I would look again. I think this time I tried Amazon for the VHS. At the time I had a DVD-r VHS combo thing. So I could watch it. This time it came and I made a backup copy with my machine for my viewing pleasure since the tape is easily over years old and was used. I am excited to share this movie with my son. I am sure he will love it as much as I do.

What are some of your favorite movies as a child to watch? I am interested in hearing your responses.

What will you give me for a basket of kisses?

I don’t know if I have told you guys or not but I hate scary movies. My favorite scary movie is not scary at all. However at the time it was a very scary movie. It was made in the 1950’s though. It was about something that no one thought about. I randomly stumbled on this movie at the library when I was with my old best friend. We were bored and were picking out movies to borrow. We always watched weird movies together; like Mary Reilly and we got it just because we could. We watched it and I ended up loving it. I got really excited when I found it on DVD at Borders. I of course had to snag that up since I would watch it every time it was on Turner Movie Classics which was not often.

Photobucket
The movie is called The Bad Seed. It is about a little girl named Rhoda Penmark and when she’s good she is very good and when she is bad she murders. She will kill anyone who stands in her way. I really don’t want to give away any of the movie. I had my cousin Dan watch it and he really likes it. It’s not gruesome at all. Movies back then were not allowed to be. The Motion Picture Production Code was enforced on this movie. It basically means crime cannot pay and you can’t get away with it and you must be punished so they had to change the ending in the movie from the books ending. No one in the 1950’s would ever imagine that a child could be a murderer. That is way it was scary. All of the actors are amazing too.The movie is in black and white and I think that it gives it an eerie effect. It is really believable.

So, be on the lookout for The Bad Seed on TCM. It is usually on at night normally pretty late. Also check your local movie rental place. It is definitely worth it. Rhoda’s manipulative behavior will make the hair on your neck stand up. Let me know what you think or if you have seen it. It one of those rare gems that not too many people have seen.

Movie Moments Pack Review and Giveaway!

The most important meal of the day is breakfast. We all know that General Mills makes the cereals Cheerios, Chex , Lucky Charms, and Wheaties to name a few. Well, I have a really cool promotion to share with you that I learned about, If you buy participating cereals (Honey Nut Cheerios, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Trix, and Reese’s Puffs). When you purchase two boxes of participating cereal you can go online to the Movie Cash Website and enter the codes found inside the box and print your movie cash. They are valid at many movie theaters in the United States. They are valid at both of the movie theaters by me.

I love movies. I love watching movies, and going to see them. Let’s face it though, going to the movies can be expensive ok it is expensive. Sometimes it is worth it to go a movie though. You don’t get the same experience as you do in the theater at home. I know I don’t have a huge TV with loud speakers. Even then you don’t have the magic of the movies at home. It’s like you are transported in to the movie because everything is almost life sized, which is something that doesn’t happen at your home.

There are some movies like The Lord of The Rings where you must see it in a theater because if you don’t you miss something. Gollum doesn’t sound as creepy at home. Sauran’s eye doesn’t give you that creepy effect like the big screen does. I know that people can’t afford to go to the movies as often as they used to.

So why not cash in on this promotion. I know I buy Cheerios anyway because my son absolutely loves them. Just think you can provide a nutritious breakfast or snack for your family and then take them out to a movie as a treat. You are happy, your kids are happy it’s a great thing for everyone. Don’t have kids? Movies are a great date night too.

We used our free cereal coupon on Banana Nut Cheerios. My son loves them a lot.
Thank you to General Mills for providing me with 4 Movie Cash Certificates and a coupon for a box of General Mills cereal and providing the same prize package for the giveaway.

I had the opportunity to be a part of this because I am a member of My Blog Spark.
